World’s Largest Lesson
We watched a video about the Global Goals and talked about what changes we could make to help our planet.
We all added what we would like to change to a jigsaw piece.
“We are all a small piece of the jigsaw.”
Counting
We were learning to play dominoes. We had to count the dot patterns and match them.
We used 10 frames and we had to put in the counters.
We pressed the numicon into the playdough and made different numbers.
Child 1: “I used a 10 and a 1 and I made 11.”
Child 2: “I used a 4 and 4 and it makes 8.”
PE
We have been practising our underarm throw and aiming at the target in PE this week.
Number Tracks
We have had great fun this week using our number track to count forwards and backwards.
Common words
We have lots of fun playing the fried egg game to recognise and read our new common words for this week – a at the.
Active Phonics
We learnt our first sound yesterday – a. We have been practising forming it in foam, which we loved and drawing lots of ‘a’ pictures on our graffiti wall.
Click and Move!
P1 have been learning to use the trackpad to move the mouse across the screen.
We have been practising our clicking and moving ‘Peter Pointers’ to make different types of lines and shapes on Paint.
P1 have even been changing the brush style and also the colour.
Technology – Boat Builders
As part of our Jack and The Flum Flum Tree topic, we made boats for Jack, Stu and Rose to sail in to the Isle of Blowyernose using shoe boxes.
Numeracy
Mrs Conetta went on East Ayrshire Numeracy Training and we have been having lots of fun during Numeracy and Free Play exploring the resources.
We love the washing line our janitor, Mr Millar made for us! We have been using it to help us understand before, after and in between.
We have also being exploring measuring things in the classroom using the words long, short, longer, shorter.
