Lots of excitement for a Sunday evening. A second butterfly has emerged!

The first butterfly has emerged from its chrysalis!

The butterflies remain in their chrysalises and have went home with Mrs Conetta. Hopefully over the next few days, we will have some butterflies which can be released. Any updates will be posted on the blog.

We had a fantastic time at Aitkenhead Farm. We met a horse called Katie, one of the sheepdogs and many, many baby lambs, one of which was only 1 hour old.
“I fed the baby lambs” – Emily.
“I hope the mums and dads like our pictures” – Casey
“We stroked the horse” – Harriet.
“We clapped the horse and got yummy cupcakes” – Layla
“The lambs were trying to get me” – Kade.

The class caterpillars are now in chrysalis form. We hope to see some beautiful butterflies very soon.

We have been using lights to search for sh, ch , th and ng words.

We have been learning lots about symmetrical patterns with Miss Stevenson and Mrs Kelly this week.

We spoke about using our senses in the outdoors with one of the rangers from Whitelee Wind Farm.
Whilst learning about Shrove Tuesday, Primary 1 also enjoyed learning about fractions! They worked with a partner to cut their pancake in half, making sure they made 2 equal parts.

They then had to ‘half their half’ to make quarters.
