A gentle reminder that Personal Plan Reviews will take place this week between 3:00–4:00pm. Parents and carers are warmly invited to meet with their child’s key worker to review their child’s personal plan or complete their settling review.

Meetings will be held in the ECC playrooms or the Teaching Base. We kindly ask that children sit with you during the meeting so key workers can focus on taking accurate notes. Most resources will be tidied away for the evening, with a small selection of activities available.

If you have anything sensitive you would like to discuss, please let us know — we can arrange an alternative appointment if you would prefer to speak without your child present or are unable to attend alone.

If your appointment is after 3:10pm, please use the main entrance of Fenwick PS and ECC for entry and exit.

Please note: There will be no Learning Journal uploads on Monday 3/3/26 due to Personal Plan Reviews.

ECC Meals Survey

Our colleagues in Facilities and Property Management are currently reviewing the meals provided at the ECC and have requested feedback from our parent community.

Taking Temperatures and Managing Illness

📣 Important Information for Parents – Taking Temperatures & Managing Illness

At Fenwick ECC, the health and wellbeing of all children is our highest priority. If we have reason to believe a child is unwell or may have a raised temperature, a member of our ECC staff will gently take their temperature using a digital thermometer. We will record this and communicate the result with you. This will always be done respectfully, with the child’s dignity and comfort maintained at all times.

With the rise in winter illnesses and other infections at certain times of year, we remain especially vigilant; however, temperatures may be taken at any point during the ECC term if we suspect that a child might be unwell.

🔎 What is a Fever?

A child is generally considered to have a fever if their body temperature is 38°C (100.4°F) or higher. (Defined by NHS)

🩺 When Should Children Stay Off Nursery?

Based on Public Health Scotland / NHS advice for children aged 3–5 years:

High temperature / fever:
If your child has a high temperature and is unwell, they should not attend nursery or childcare until their temperature has returned to normal and they are well enough to participate in nursery activities.
Diarrhoea and vomiting:
Children should remain off nursery for at least 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
Other common contagious illnesses:
For illnesses such as chickenpox, scarlet fever, or other conditions, there are specific exclusion recommendations which depend on the illness and treatment (e.g., scarlet fever until 24 hours after starting antibiotics).
Minor symptoms:
Children with mild cold symptoms (such as a runny nose or slight cough), who do not have a fever and are otherwise well, can generally attend nursery.
