Weekly Round-Up

This week Primary 2 have been learning about volcanoes. They have been finding out the answers to the questions they asked last week by watching videos, making volcanoes at the creation station and even carrying out a volcano experiment!

We have also spotted lots of rainbows in the sky this week. We learned about how a rainbow is formed and made our own rainbow puddles in the playground.

Have a look at some of the other things we have been getting up to.

Here are our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week, well done everyone!

Book Bags

A wee reminder that all book bags should be returned on a Friday so that pupils can be issued with a new reading book for the following week. Pupils will not be able to choose a new reading book until the previous book is returned.

Maths scrapbooks should also be returned each week for me to see any activities that have been completed. Pictures of any homework tasks can also be sent to me by e-mail. My address is laura.mckenna@eastayrshire.org.uk.

Thank you for your support.

The class have been exploring numbers and playing lots of fun games in the playground including snakes and ladders, noughts and crosses and hoop addition. We also went on a number hunt during our walk this afternoon and found lots of numbers in our local area!

Walk Around Catrine

P2 will be going for an autumn walk around Catrine tomorrow afternoon, (Wednesday 29th September) instead of Friday this week due to the weather forecast looking better for tomorrow.  Please ensure your child comes to school wearing suitable footwear and a jacket to go on the walk.

Book Bags

Pupils have been given a Book Bag to take home today. Each bag contains a reading book, Maths Week Scotland Activity Grid and a Maths Toolkit Scrapbook. As this week is Maths Week Scotland, pupils have been given some activities on the grid that they can try at home. We encourage all families to support their children’s learning by getting involved with the activities.

Please ensure Book Bags are returned on Friday so that pupils can be issued with a new reading book.

Thanks for your support.

Pupils have been given a homework pack to take home today that contains materials that can be used to complete activities at home. The pack contains: a pencil, rubber, sharpener, whiteboard pen, whiteboard, duster, jotter, 100 number square, blank number grid, part whole grid, Elkonin boxes and alphabet. Homework packs should be kept at home and not brought back into school. Pupils will be issued with a book bag next which which should be returned to school at the end of each week.

Weekly Round-Up

It has been another busy week in Primary 2. We have started our daily tooth brushing routine this week and the pupils have been doing a fantastic job of brushing their teeth after lunch each day. We have read the book ‘The Rainbow Fish’ and will be doing lots of work on this throughout the term. We have also been revising sounds, exploring numbers to 100, building, painting, playing and having lots of fun!

Check out our ‘Star of the Day’ awards for this week too, well done everyone!

A wee reminder that the PE days for P2 are a Tuesday and Friday. We will continue with PE sessions outside until further notice. Your child should come to school wearing their school uniform on top (polo shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, school hoodies, cardigans etc) and a pair of shorts/trackies or leggings, with trainers on these days.  This means they can take a full part in any outdoor PE activities.  Please ensure any jewellery (especially earrings) is removed before coming to school.
