On Tuesday 15th November myself and Lesleyanne had the privilege of attending the CYPIC conference in Glasgow SEC where our video clip was presented showcasing Catrine ECC and our fabulously famous children 🙂
Scottish Government asked us to discuss some of the changes we have made so far whilst on our journey to becoming a Communication Friendly Environment with the collection of data and quality improvement methods in mind.
Below you can find the link to the video clip where you might see some familiar faces (Riccarton ECC appear first in the clip with Catrine following on a few minutes later)
Huge thank you to Melanie from The Magpie Mel shop in Catrine for kindly donating dressing up clothes. The children will have so much fun with them and lots to choose from.
Have you been in for a look yet? It’s open on a Monday and Friday from 5 pm – 7 pm at the AM Brown institute Catrine.
The children have had a ball today exploring how fast/slow they can go adding water to our slide …. however this has resulted in some slighter wetter clothes upon our return back inside.
Lots of children have empty bags and clothes needing topped up.
Please continue to send clothes in so that experiences like these can continue.
Schools in East Ayrshire will be affected by Industrial Action by the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) and the Association of Heads and Deputes in Scotland (AHDS) on Thursday 24th November 2022. At this stage we anticipate that all Early Childhood Centres will operate as normal.
Thank you to everyone who sent in their videos to my emails. The children have loved watching each other. Sorry it didn’t work on learning journals.
This week’s challenge is nice and easy. Can you make your own musical instrument? This can be made from anything you can recycle and can be brought in by Friday 18th November. The children can use them in our musical corner and we will have a marching band parade around the playrooms.
I would like to introduce myself as the Expressive Arts Champion within the Early Childhood Centre and for the next 5 weeks I will be working alongside Tammie, who works as our Homelink Champion. Together we have comprised a programme of fun activities for you and your child to engage in at home.
WEEK 1
We love a sing song and a boogie within the centre and thought we would start the week off asking the children to record and upload a video to their Learning Journal of them singing and dancing to their favourite song at home. These will be played on the large screen in the music area for the children to share with their friends. I’m going home to practice my favourite – George Ezra – to get the party started. Can you upload your amazing videos by Thursday at the latest please?
**Thinking caps at the ready for week 2 as we will be making some musical instruments, perhaps a good idea to collect some recyclable materials ready for your challenge.
We continued with the Hallowe’en theme this week as the children were very keen and interested in the activities on offer and most were inspired by the popular Room on the Broom story. These activities included re-enacting the story, making potions, designing our own wands and witchy collages. Outdoors, the children explored a range of techniques to create firework pictures. They made potions in the mud kitchen. In the Ocean Room the children asked if they could make roads, use tools and Lego to build. They helped set up the playroom and selected resources of interest.
