Numeracy Homelink week 1

Home link challenge – Week 1

Hello everyone, hope you are all well and ready for a wee challenge with your child.  Over the next 4 weeks, I will have small numeracy challenges planned that the children can try, either indoors or outdoors.

This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your child.

Measuring and comparing.

I can use the language of capacity - full/empty.

I can use non standard items for measuring - hands, feet, blocks, jugs and bottles

I can identify items by size and/or amount - big/small, light/heavy rain full/empty from a choice of two.

Can you assist your child in using different sized pans to fill up your sink?

– How many small pans/ large pans did you use?

– Is the sink full?

– What other items could you use to fill up the sink? eg spoons, kettle, bottles

– Could you draw me a picture of the items you used?
