Obstacle courses are a favourite activity in our house.
Who doesn’t love the floor is lava game?
Or an obstacle course?
This can be done in or outdoors.
Can you create a way from one side of the room to the other without touching the floor? Find things to stand on and make your way across – it can be cushions, pillows or covers.
Can you set up your own obstacle course for someone in your house to try? Again, use anything you can find.
Cushions could be stepping stones, books or boxes to jump over, chairs to crawl under etc.
During this challenge we are going to be developing our understanding of positional language. Try to use and encourage words like in, on, under, up, down, behind and in front.
Some examples could be – can you…
Put teddy IN the washing basket?
Step ON TOP OF the cushions?
Crawl UNDER the table?
Go UP and DOWN the steps?
Put Teddy BEHIND/IN FRONT of etc
Please check it’s OK to use objects in the house and that it is safe to do so.
