Bird Feeders & Binoculars

We hope you have fun with these ideas, spend time together and simply chat. Please be mindful of social distancing and be aware of others around you at this time.

We would love to see or hear how your child got on with the challenge, either through discussions whilst attending the ECC or through uploading picture / photos to our email.      alana.speirs@east-ayrshire.gov.uk

Remember if you have older / younger siblings within your family then they can be involved too.

Can you make a bird feeder with some breakfast cereal or bird seed if you have any ?

What you need, cereal e.g. cheerios and some wire, a used Kitchen roll, or a stick that you have found while out on your daily walk and some string, cover with some lard or peanut butter in order for the cereal or seeds to stick to it. Hang up in the garden and watch the birds feeding on it.

Remember to put your bird feeder somewhere that you can see it. You could now make some binoculars with an empty kitchen roll, cut in half, attach the two pieces together and decorate. Get a grown up to help make a small hole at one end and attach a piece of string / wool / lace to it.  Now you can decorate it what ever way you wish.

Rainbow Binoculars …….. it’s entirely up to you.

Now can you find a quiet spot in the garden or within the house, looking out the window …….    what birds can you see?

Here is one of the birds that comes into my garden, looking at themselves in the car mirror. Can you manage to capture any birds feeding from your bird feeder? Remember to send the pictures into Alana. We all love seeing what you have been creating. I wonder what your binoculars look like ?          Have fun everyone.
