Week beginning 30/01/23

This week with the birch room we have had so much fun, we have been learning about birds and went a trip to the woods where we were looking for different birds and using a book to identify what one we found.
we have been enjoying mixing and pouring using some real tea pots etc and exploring some mathematical language.

Bookbug came back for a little visit where we enjoyed listening to a story, singing songs using the stretchy Lycra and learned a new song for our peer massage.

we have made some tents which we are going to continue in the woods with the giraffe and peacock group (it will be the squirrels and tigers turn in a few weeks) and been solving design problems when exploring different construction resources.

 

Some January fun

Welcome back to the children after the christmas break, this week we have been talking a lot about winter where we were talking about what we might wear in the winter, the weather and where are all the birds.

we were also in the gym hall playing some games, taking part in massage, having a look around the school with a visit to a classroom, learning about syllables with drum sticks, making our own bus to go on a journey, matching different winter items and explored patterns and making a number line.

week beginning 12/12/22

The children have been busy this week preparing for Christmas creating things to take home . They have been exploring sensory play when choosing to play with the pretend snow.
some of the children have been taking turns throwing the ball into a tub developing their hand eye coordination.
some of the children then went on to play skittles using  cardboard tubes .

when outdoors some of the children were mark making in the ice, writing their names with their fingers and drawing pictures with sticks.

 

Xmas fun in the birch room.

We are having so much fun participating in some Christmas fun. We have made some frozen Christmas wreaths to hang in our garden, we went a walk to collect some natural objects to decorate our wreaths with. We were Painting a snowman on our window and  making some lovely Christmas surprises.

Another busy week in the birch room with lots of learning opportunities on offer, we have looked at how to use scissors safely, celebrated St Andrews day by making shortbread expanding their knowledge of mathematical language and measure, creating tartan pictures, listening to Scottish songs and also some dancing. This week we have also began to brighten up our room with some festive decorations, the children have used their cutting skills to make some snowflakes, they have also decorated Santa’s boots for our display and have developed their literacy skills by writing letters to Santa

14/11/22

This week we have participating in some fun activities for nursery rhyme week. We were exploring 5 little speckled frog through playdough, making masks, dancing to the songs and the water tray.

We also had a lovely bookbug session where we were practicing some other nursery rhymes and read the story we are going on a bear hunt.
