PC Mcpike

As part of our ‘Our Community’ topic, we had a special visit from our campus cop ‘PC Mcpike’. We came up with lots of questions we wanted to know about the Police. PC Mcpike showed us a lot of the equipment used and told us what it is like to be a Police officer.

Fire Service 🔥

Primary 1 and 1/2 were very lucky to have a visit from Group Commander Haggerty and the local fire brigade as part of their ‘Our Community topic’. We learned all about the fire engine and the equipment it carries, we even got a shot of the hose! We learned lots. Thank-you for coming into Annanhill Primary.

Marvellous Me Topic

As part of our Marvellous Me topic, we looked at portraits and practised drawing our own on whiteboards. We then drew our partners.

Baby photos

As part of our Marvellous Me topic, we loved bringing in baby photos and guessing who each baby was. We compared what we are like now to what we were like as babies. We also learned about what you need to do to look after a baby.

Term 1

The children are settling in nicely to Primary 1 and the routines of school.  This term our topic is Marvellous Me, helping the class find out about one another and their families.  The children have been enthusiastically sharing their All About Me bags!

In Literacy we follow the EA Literacy programme, learning sounds and completing lots of activities to support and extend phonological awareness.  The children will learn 2 sounds most weeks with consolidation weeks after each group.

In Numeracy we are focussing on numbers to 10:- recognition and formation; counting forward and back; 1 to 1 correspondence; position (before, after and in-between); sequencing and ordering.

Our 1st homework block will start w/c 18th Sept until 24th Nov.
