P2GM Class Blog ⭐️ 🐝

Welcome to P2GM’s class blog! ⭐️ 🐝

2.10.26

We learned all about fossils at the start of our ‘Time of the Dinosaurs’ topic and on Friday we had the chance to join a live discussion from the National Museum of Scotland to hear about their collection. 🦖🦕
We loved hearing about the work of a Palaeontologist and exploring some of the fossils they keep safe in the museum. We did very well in the guessing games, working out the tooth they showed us was from a herbivore because it was flat.

We noticed one looked very much like Ayda’s replica we made with Heather’s help during a topic afternoon!

29.9.26

Today we started the P2 Learning Lab from Glasgow Science Centre, it is called ‘The Air we Breathe’.  We have been learning about why the lungs are important to us and how the air we breathe in travels to them. Our first task was to create a working model of lungs to show how the diaphragm moved up and down and also how the lungs inflate and deflate as we breathe.

16.9.26

We met a new friend today,  Santiago from Spain. He is our Spanish bear and he is helping us learn some new words in his language. He sat with Brooke today and we learned how to say ‘hello’ in Spanish. We couldn’t wait to go home and tell our grown ups ‘Hola!’ at 3 o’clock!

15.9.26

We were lucky enough to join a video call with Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler on Friday morning to  hear their brand new story ‘Gruffalo Granny’. We were so excited during the count down all morning! They acted out the Gruffalo story first, which we were able to join in with. We liked seeing Julia play the part of mouse! 🐭

We predicted what we thought might happen in the new book, using our reading skills. We had some super ideas! ⭐️

14.9.26

This week we are learning about the diets of the different types of dinosaurs. Today we started off with a ‘dino poo’ experiment to investigate for ourselves! We talked about what a carnivore, a herbivore and an omnivore dinosaur might eat for their dinner! 🦕 🦖

Termly overview P2

Primary 2GM have made a super start to the new school year.

We have been learning the new routines in our classroom and enjoying lots of fun activities getting to know our new teachers.

We read ‘Superkid’ and talked all about the ways we can try our best to be our very own ‘Annanhill Super kids’.  We even made our own superhero masks and bands. The boys and girls have loved earning treasure for their groups by being really super and the very first ‘Group of the Week’ was the yellow group. Well done, yellow group!

We are looking forward to beginning our P2 phonemes on Monday, starting with ‘sh’. We will be learning all about Numbers to 100 in Numeracy. The children are already talking about what the new topic may be. Here is a little clue…
