Standard Grade Modern Studies

Standard Grade Modern Studies is a two year course concerned with the study of local, national and international issues from a social, political and economic perspective.

Modern Studies is concerned with the study of seven key concepts;

•Representation

•Power

•Need

•Rights and Responsibilities

•Participation

•Ideology

•Equality

These concepts are embedded in the courses that we examine throughout the two years of study and are central to gaining an understanding of the main issues.  The four areas of study are;

• Living in a Democracy

• Changing Society

• USA

• International Relations
