Reading Committee

2022-2023

Children have been helping develop our new library and gathering information from peers about how everyone feels about reading.  They have presented their findings at assembly. Later in the year they will help organise the World book Day event.

Discussions will also take place about the types of books in our library and how they reflect UNCRC targets of representing a wide variety of cultures and beliefs.

2021-2022

June 2022 Update: Mrs McLellan visited and gave us lots of ideas for our library.  She also donated books to the school and these will be shared with all the classes before being added to the library.

May 2022 Update: The committee discussed how to improve our school library.  There are lots of ideas and we look forward to a representative from the Scottish Book Trust coming to visit us and share their ideas.  5 Reading committee Meeting 6.5.22

2020-2021

The Reading Committee was formed in the 2020-2021 school year.  Children on the committee helped promote reading in different ways including organising Harry Potter Day in May 2021.  Everyone dressed up and the school was decorated like Hogwarts.  What great fun it was.

The committee encourage reading in class by surveying pupils about what kinds of class books they would like in their library.  They will be promoting books on their display sharing reviews on a regular basis.
