Work continues in developing our school grounds. On a weekly basis Mrs Hamilton and her P7 class have been helping with tidying, litter picking, painting and other upkeep on the grounds. The Eco Committee are involved with this work as well and enjoy the chance to work with the older pupils.
2022 2023
The committee organised a wonderful Harvest Festival creating lots of items from the produce grown on school grounds. The work with the Dandelion School’s Growing Initiative allowed us to share seed potatoes with all pupils and grow potatoes on our own school grounds. Rachel, our dinner supervisor helped make amazing vegetable soup along with other treats for our festival.
It was very well supported and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to back in the school for our first community initiative since COVID restrictions were lifted.
The committee will be working hard to take on further tasks over the school session including involvement with the local Rotary Club and Incredible Edibles to expand our school grounds and local area gardens.

Tree Planting April 2021
Children planted a range of fruit trees in the school playground along with volunteers from Incredible Edibles Stranraer and council workers. Mrs Dampney organised the project after a successful bid for funding from the council. Our Eco Committee liased with Mrs Dampney to decide on the range of trees that could be planted and then they were ordered from Scottish Fruit Trees. We have a mixture of apple, pear and plum trees as well as thornless bramble bushes. Our Eco Committee, plus a few extra pupils, will share their experience with their classes and ensure they are well looked after. This is only phase one, we will have more fruit trees planted in the future!
