P5/6 has been very busy this term
Mathematics: In maths p5/6 have been learning about how to change mixed numbers to improper fractions and back again with Mrs Clanachan. With Mrs Sloan they have been learning the formal written method.
Literacy: In literacy p5/6 were learning to write a recount so they wrote a recount about the blitz. Also p5/6 did persuasive writing and debates. The debates were about whether every household should have a pet and should you be gaming if you’re under the age of 16?
French: In French p5/6 has been learning all about their body for example: hair, how tall and eye colour. They were also learning the alphabet in French.
IDL: In IDL p5/6 were learning all about WW2. They learned all about the evacuees to the blitz and the Anderson shelters to the black outs then p5/6 moved on from WW2 and moved to forces which are air resistance, gravity, friction and magnetism.
Art: In art p5/6 have been linking it to their topic which is forces so they built a bridge with card and dictionaries. They got little weights to see how long the bridge would last.
Quit your way talk: p5/6 got a talk from Lisa who works with ‘Quit your way’ which can help people to stop smoking. A couple of people got to experiment with all of the chemicals that are in the drug which is really harmful for your body.

In term 3 P5 have been doing quite a lot in maths.

In skills academy our group was Community. First we made posters and leaflets about the drop off zone then we put them up around the front of the school.
