In Skills Academy with Mrs Boyd we were very busy.
On the first week we did sound effects. We had a script and we had to make sounds when someone read out the script.
On the second week we did Hot seating with our their favourite characters from a book or movie.
On the third week we created our own character. We had to think about how they act and things like that.
On the fourth week we created our own script and then on the last week we performed our script.
Also we played drama games each week.
This term the school have been doing Skills Academy on a Wednesday afternoon 1:20 to 2:20 but sometimes it’s to 2:50. The pupils were put into groups and then given a class to go to at the times listed. The people who went to the P5 classroom got to do food and health!
They had to research and come up with a French café and their budget was 40 pounds for 30 people. They also learned about allergies and intolerances they did a carousel about a food and why it’s not safe to eat it. In that week they also learned about bacteria growth. They were also sampling foods and using their senses to describe foods for example what the food tastes like, what the food felt like (in and out of the mouth), what the food looked like and what the food smelt like. Once they had got the food they had a sheet to fill in about what they think the food tasted like, felt like, looked like and smelt like. Here are some photos of them sampling foods:
To celebrate book week Scotland and as part Scottish children’ s book awards the nursery have recently been to the library. The children had the opportunity to listen to a number of stories and were allowed to vote for their favourite stories. They also sang some songs and rhymes!
They had a great time!
