STEM in Primary 6/7.
As part of our Space topic, we had to order planets, satellite’s and objects in order of distance from the sun. We first had to calculate each object and it’s distance before placing them in order. This was a hard task and we used many skills to complete the task.

Term 2 Newsletter – Primary 6/7
Area in Primary6/7
Primary 6/7 have been studying area this week in maths. We have been using the formula a=l x b to calculate the area of a square or a rectangle. We then completed a challenge in pairs, where we had to measure and draw 10 rectangles, cut them out then place them on a 100 square, trying to cover as much of the 100 square as possible. The winning pair covered the biggest area.

STEM in Primary 6/7
Primary 6/7 have been taking part in a STEM challenge. Our challenge was to build a spaghetti and marshmallow tower. The winning team create a tower that good 37cm high. Well done to Murray and Alexis who worked all together to win the challenge.

Primary 6/7 Newsletter Term 1 – 2025-2026
Football and rugby in P6/7
We have been getting taught rugby and football in primary 6/7. We are being trained by Queen Of The South and Dumfries Saints. We have been showing focusing, collaborating, communicating, adapting and leading. We got a little bit muddy while being taught the rules of rugby and how to score a try. When we were playing football we were playing fun games to warm up then at the end we played some matches.

Rights Respecting Schools in Primary 6
Primary 6 pupils have been identifying how our rights are being met at Heathhall Primary School. This was part of our Rights, Respecting Schools Day.
We worked in two’s to produce posters on how our rights are being met. We then linked how these are being met by identifying the Article which applies.





3D Shape in Primary 6
Primary 6 have been using their META skills when working on creating a poster on known 3 D shapes. We worked in two’s to cut and make nets of shapes, the sticking them onto an A3 piece of card. After that, we wrote the name of the shape, the number of faces, number of edges and number of vertices.

Bikeability and Obstacle Course – Primary 6
Primary 6 pupils have been taken part in a Sustrans Bikeability obstacle course. This was fun but we also learned how to balance on a bike and stay safe on a bike.
