Sports Day!

Great to see the sun shining and so many happy faces!

 

It was great to see another Sports Day beginning at Heathhall!

The Upper Primary were all enthusiastic and ready to take part in their Potted Sports this morning. Great to see so many happy children and lovely to have so many adults along to watch and support.

This term has started off very busily!

We have been learning lots of new and exciting thing.

In Literacy we have been developing our reading skills by practicing our words and reading our Accelerated reading books. – Seth

During writing we have been writing explanations about the life of different animals. – Jaxson.

We have writing response texts to share our opinions on different paintings. – Will.

We have been reading a book called Ottoline and the Yellow Cat. It’s a mysterious book. -Joe.

In Maths we have been learning our Times Tables. We are getting better. – Orlaith.

We have been learning to add and subtract money so we know how to spend our money.- Jessica.

We have been getter better at chimney sums where we have to exchange. – Evan.

We have been learning to add 2 digit numbers in mental maths. – Noel.

We have been learning how to tessellate shapes and we have been making 3D shapes from nets. – Carron

 

We have been looking at Creativity in Skills Academy.

We having been using different skills to make puppets.- Keyann

We practised our mime skills out in the playground. – Ollie.

We used instruments to help retell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. – Michael.

In Digital Technologies we have been working with new Micro:bits!

We have been learning how to use a Micro:bit properly.- Thomas

We learned how to create different pictures on the micro:bit. – Layla.

We were successful at making our Micro:bit make different sounds and pictres when we pressed buttons or shook it. – Prestyn.

We had to Code our Micro:bits on the computers. – Fin

 

 

 

 

 

 

We have been getting better at using Microsoft Teams.

When we need to complete surveys we find these on Microsoft Teams. – Abigail.

We are learning to use Teams to do our assignments on. -Mollie.

We have to look at Teams to find out what our homework is. – Eli.

P4 Newsletter – Term 4

This term for Skills Academy we are learning all about creativity.

The first week we went outside to work as the weather was so nice.

We learned all about how to be successful at miming and we learned how to mime different jobs.

We talked about different skills in drama and how it was important to use different facial expressions.  We also worked on moving in different ways.

I enjoyed miming with my partner in the circle. – Fin

I enjoyed miming different animal movements. – Ollie

I enjoyed it when people had to guess what I was doing. – Gordon

We went out into the playground to look for rectangular shapes. We had to measure the length and the width so we could calculate the area. We used meter sticks to do this and we worked in groups. We also used trundle wheels.

We were also given walkie talkies so we could go off and work in groups.

I learned how to measure an area successfully – Seth.

I learned how to use a trundle wheel – Poppy.

I worked well with my partners – Jayden.

 

Primary 4 took part in the naming the gritters competition.

We were very fortunate to have a few winning entries. As a class we decided on Frosty Mosty and Snow Angel. We then had an individual winner with his name Salter Smith.

We were then very excited to have a visit from Salter Smith, Snow Angel and Frosty Mosty !

 

Today P4 enjoyed taking part in a golf session with James and Ryan from The County Golf Club. We learned the names of the different areas on a golf course and we learned the names of the parts of a golf club.

We practised our putting skills and took part in a putting competition.

We are looking forward to learning more golf skills in the next 3 weeks.
