Borgue Harvest assembly and awards!

We had our annual Harvest assembly today and we were sol delighted with he donation to the local food bank in Kirkcudbright. So generous!

We even had a fantastic loaf of harvest bread made by Mrs MacPherson, amazing! Can you spot the field mouse…..?

We have also been practising 2 Harvest songs with Mrs Graham and we also performed these today. Have a listen to some extracts uploaded on our school Twitter feed…

We also had awards and points winners for the last week of term: Arthur, Morann, Eli , Kade, Lily Michael and Samson! Well done to everyone!

Partnership Easter Assembly

We held our last virtual assembly today, across the partnership. Classes shared some of the work they have been doing this week about Easter and spring time, including Easter poems, stories about bunnies and beautiful spring / Easter pictures.

We also had a one minute silence to reflect on the past year, living with Covid-19 and coping with all the changes that have affected our lives. We thank everyone who has helped to keep us all going during the two lock-down periods.

P1-3: Kester for working hard in maths and going up a level in Accelereated Reading.

P4-7: Henry for a super piece of writing.

 

Thank you to pupils, parents and staff for your hard work during this extremely challenging term. We are a great team!

Mrs McDevitt welcomed pupils from across the partnership to another virtual assembly, with one more to go for Easter.

We are looking forward to welcoming back our P4-7 pupils on Monday and can’t wait to see everyone’s happy faces.

We were thinking about thanking people who have helped us during lockdown and Mrs McDevitt would like to thank all of the pupils for their hard work, parents for ensuring that pupils are completing as much as they can, and all the staff in school for keeping the learning and childcare going since Christmas. Everyone has been working hard as a team and and it is very much appreciated.

Auchencairn and Borgue pupils have been featured again recently in the Galloway News , which can be seen on the previous post.

We would love to have more pictures of the lovely pancakes from the kits that were sent home to every pupil last week, along with a Scottish themed book.

We also had some super Pupil of the Week awards, well done to everybody!

Auchencairn

P1-3: Jamille, for beautifully neat handwriting .

Endeavour award: Iris, for completing work to a high standard.

P4-7: Jean , for completing work to a high standard.

Endeavour award:  Kiera, Murrin, Daisy M, alba, Logan, Toby and Archie for super effort in school, being more independent and confident with their learning.

Borgue

P1-3: Michael, for working very hard, especially on reading.

P4-7: All pupils, for their hard work and effort during lock-down.

Partnership Assembly with Mrs McDevitt

We had another successful whole school partnership assembly this afternoon, with all the pupils from home and in school invited to join.

Mrs McDevitt shared the good news that P4-7 will return to school full time from the 15th of March and we cannot wait to see them all!

Pupils also had a surprise today- everyone will be receiving a recipe and some ingredients to make yummy pancakes, as well as a Scottish book, to round off our Scottish theme this term and the end of World Book Week. We would love to see pictures of these being made and eaten so please send into school.

 

Mrs McDevitt also announced some super awards.

P1-3

  • Pupil of the week: Tom for super reading and effort with sounds and words.
  • Endeavour: Esmee for working hard and not giving up on learning her sounds.
  • Well done also to Matilda, Bertie, Angus and Melody for reciting their Scots poetry for everyone! Great confidence!

P4-7

  • Pupil of the week: Jake , for his continued effort with home learning.
  • Endeavour: Daisy Maitland, for working really hard this week.

P4-7

  • Pupils of the week: Morann, Arthur M, Arthur S and Elijah, for reading a story to P1-3 from home on World Book Day.
  • No Endeavour award this week as 2 went out last week. Let’s see who can earn it during the last week of home learning!

Mid Term break

We would like to thank all our pupils and parents for their hard work these past few weeks, and for the work you have all handed in.  We know it is not easy to work from home and we are very proud of our Auchencairn and Borgue children. It is now time for you all to have a well earned rest and a week off school!

We are hopeful that P1-3 will be in school from the 22nd of February, but we await the Government’s decision on this.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Our super children have been featured in this week’s Galloway News, highlighting their dedication to home learning. We thank them for their efforts in completing these tasks and we are delighted to see their cheery faces, we miss you all!

Many thanks also to Ms McCall for her hard work in collating and sending in the photos to the newspaper.

Auchencain: Christmas Hamper from Mrs Pryde

Mrs Pryde has made one of her fabulous hampers to raise funds for Auchencairn Primary. As you all know these hampers are always full of delicious and fun items that would make anyone’s Christmas special. Tickets are £1:00 each and will be sold by our P7 pupils over the next two weeks. We really appreciate Mrs Pryde making this up for the school and hope that she is well enough to visit us soon. The raffle will be drawn on Thursday 17th December.
