P7 Christmas night out

“Primary 7 have had a long established tradition of going for a meal out together at Christmas time.  This year they all went to the Craignelder Hotel in Stranraer, and invited their friend from the partnership Primary of Portpatrick.  The children all enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal in the company of Mrs Baillie, Mrs Bathgate and Mrs Buchanan.  Presents were exchanged before the staff chauffeured the pupils home at the end of the evening.

This evening was made possible due to the generosity of Leswalt Parent council fundraising group and Mr Hammy Mc Millan from The Craignelder Hotel.

Out of little acorns, might oaks grow……

“To develop transition links within the local community, Primary 1-4 at Leswalt and their teacher Mrs Mc Knight invited Leswalt Little Acorn toddler group into the school for a fun structured play session.

The pupils of p1-4 organised some fun games and activities for the younger children.
It proved to be a fun and enjoyable session, which was very well attended.

Harvest Festival

As part of the Harvest festival celebrations pupils traveled to Portpatrick to take part in a harvest service at church there.  The Rev Carolyn Baker led the service and pupils brought in an astonishing 59kg of food to donate to a local food bank.
Pupils also learned more about the work of Guide dogs for the blind, and a collection of £85 was also generated for this cause.

Trip to Scottish Parliament

On Thursday 2nd October 2014, pupils from both Leswalt and Portpatrick Primary schools travelled to visit the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.  This excursion was to reinforce learning in the current project of “Local and National Government”.  While in Edinburgh pupils were given a tour by Alex Ferguson MSP and met the Deputy first minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
