Thanks to volunteers from Annan Cycling club, Katie and Sandra for coming and giving all the classes some instruction and the chance to take part in bike skills throughout the day.  Despite the wind and a bit of rain we all had a great time.

Lots of children turned up for a free Bike Breakfast this morning to kick start our Big Pedal Fun Day.

We have started Big Pedal fortnight and are now on Day 2.  It was great to see so many bikes and scooters brought to school this morning and accompanied by family supporters too.  Keep up the scooting and cycling!

Well done to the Hecklegirth Hounds and Hecklegirth Stingrays, our two basketball teams who competed at Lockerbie Academy on Tuesday in the Annandale and Eskdale Basketball Competition.  The Stingrays narrowly missed out on getting to the semi-finals but both teams played well and enjoyed the event.

Well done to our badminton team sporting our new Hecklegirth Primary School tops.  They were the first children to wear the new tops and shorts and this must have inspired them with some great performances and shots.  Well done in particular to Courtney Barbour – 3rd Primary 5 girl, Ellie Smith – 1st P6 girl and Finn Skoller – 4th Primary 7 boy.

Thanks to the Hecklegirth Fundraisers for the super new kit.

Well done to all those who competed in the Sportshall Athletics competition last Friday afternoon at Moffat.  The boys and girls competed well over indoor running and field events, finishing 4th overall.

Well done to all our Hecklegirth Primary swimmers and coach Mrs Kirkpatrick.  The team had a successful day at the pool on Monday 14th November.

  Ellie won Bronze in the individual 50m breaststroke.

 Finn also won bronze in the individual 50m breaststroke.

      Courtney, Darci, Ellie and Eva won gold in the 50m front crawl.

 Wallace, Neil, Finn and Aidan won silver in the 50m front crawl.

 Niamh, Gabi, Sarah and Summer won bronze in the 5om front crawl.

Our football team took part in an Annandale and Eskdale football competition on Friday morning.  The boys were unbeaten in the group stage, winning two matches against Langholm and Elmvale and drawing one against Lochmaben.  They then lost a close match 1-0 to Gretna in the Quarter Finals.  The boys showed good teamwork and sportsmanship, representing our school very well.

Iona, Anna, Sarah, Kelsie, Gabi, Marika, Ellie, Kaitlin and Eva took part in a SFA 4 a side football competition on Wednesday this week at Dumfries High School.  The girls showed great enthusiasm and good skill when competing against other schools in Dumfries and Galloway.  They represented the school very well.  Well done girls.
