Sticky Kids

We would like to remind everyone that tomorrow, 9th June, is our outing to see the “Sticky Kids” show. Children should arrive in Nursery at normal times and we will travel by bus. We are taking a snack so the children will not need anything with them apart from their singing voices. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to accompany us. We are delighted that we have space for all the volunteers.

Congratulations

When we visited Annan library for World Book Day at the end of last term, we were given a colouring competition for the children to complete. These were done at home and returned to the library staff who judged the winner for our Nursery. Here you can see the proud winner with her prize. Congratulations – there were a lot of super entries so you did very well.

Police Station

As promised, we have some photos of the afternoon children when they recently visited the police station. They were just as well behaved as the morning children and made us very proud of them. Thank you again to all the parents who came with us – we really appreciate your help.

Police Station Visit

Recently we were able to take the children to see what the inside of a police station is like and to learn about a police officer’s job. Many of the children tried out the cells and enjoyed using the controls of the CCTV cameras. We also saw the rooms where interviews take place and fingerprints and DNA are taken. The police van, of course, was particularly popular, especially when the children were able to try out the blue light and the siren.
Thank you to all the parents who came with us on our visit and to the police officers for taking time to show us round. We are delighted that they commented on everyone’s super behaviour. Several children thought they would like to be police officers in the future so perhaps we will see them patrolling the streets of Annan in years to come.
Here you can see some of the morning children in action on their visit. We will post photos of the afternoon children soon.

Property Centre

At last the Sunshine Room children got their visit to the property centre on the High Street after the previous visit was cancelled due to bad weather. One of the children found a house for sale in her street and many seemed particularly interested in the huge map, just like the children from the Rainbow Room. The interest in maps continues the children are quite excited that a new map has arrived this week in their Nursery room to extend their learning. We realise that the children have still not had a visit reorganised to the police station and will be in touch with P.C. Leggett soon to see if we can arrange something. In the meantime thank you to the lady in the property centre and all our parent helpers who made our visit possible.

Tesco Tour

Well done Bethany for remembering all the different places you visited in Tesco. Mum said:

“Bethany was very impressed with her visit and now enjoys showing us all the places she’s been to in Tesco that we’re not allowed to go!”

I don’t suppose Mum and Dad get to make their own doughnuts at Tesco either do they? We think that the Nursery children deserved them for all their good teamwork and excellent behaviour.

Sunshine Room’s Tesco Visit

Just like the Rainbow Room, the children from the Sunshine Room thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Tesco last week. They also worked well together in teams and carried out the various activities with enthusiasm. Don’t they look good in the hats that they designed themselves? Thank you again to Tesco for providing the hats and such an informative visit. We really appreciate it.

Nursery Visits Tesco

Shoppers at Tesco might have been surprised to see some very young staff working there last week as Nursery children visited the store to learn about what happens in the shop and behind the scenes. They worked very well in teams to solve the shopping puzzles and had to think hard about finding different numbers of fruit and vegetables in various colours as well as the various cereal boxes on their shopping lists.
The visit to the bakery produced lots of interest, as did the tasting session at the cheese and meat counter, although the walk-in freezer was a bit chilly for some.
All the children’s hard work was rewarded with the chance to finish off their own doughnut by dipping it in sugar then enjoying it along with a welcome glass of juice in the staff canteen.
We would like to say huge thanks to all the staff at Tesco who were so patient and kind. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and we all appreciate the time you took to show them round the store. Thank you also to those tolerant staff who had their tea break disturbed in the canteen.
You can see the Rainbow Room children busy with the various activities in the photos below.

Our Local Property Centre

We are delighted to say that we have rearranged the Sunshine Room’s visit to our local property centre on the High Street. The Rainbow Room children enjoyed their recent visit, showing particular interest in the huge map of Dumfries and Galloway and all the pictures of houses for sale. Let’s hope that the weather is kinder this time for the Sunshine Room children who will visit on Tuesday April 1st.

Visiting Church

The afternoon children enjoyed the same experience as the morning children on their visit to see Rev. McGougan in his church. As you can see, they explored all the areas of the church and learned a little about Rev. McGougan’s job.
Again we would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who accompanied us as, without you, it would not be possible to go on visits outside Nursery. We are looking forward to more visits next week to help us find out about our local community.
