With Burns Day approaching, the Rainbow Room has ‘tartan’ as their “Word of the Week” while the Raindrop Room has chosen ‘Scotland’.

Tartan Display
Just like the Rainbow Room, those in the Raindrop Room have been creating their own tartan as part of their learning about Scotland. Have a look at their wonderful display in their room to see lots of examples of the children’s work.
Tartan
As part of their learning about Scotland and Robert Burns, we have been looking at tartan in the art area where the children have been creating patterns with paint and different sizes of rollers so we thought that we would share this little gallery from the Rainbow Room with you. I wonder if anyone can spot their own tartan?
Burns Day
On Friday we celebrated Burns Day with shortbread, tattie scones, oatcakes, cheese and, of course, Irn Bru. In true tradition some of the children even had a little taste of haggis, neeps and tatties and tried out some Highland dancing which was great fun. We appreciate our families making a super effort to provide the children with ‘a touch o’ tartan’ – we thought that they looked wonderful.
Busy Children
Joshua and Nancy’s Mum has been looking over our photos from the last few weeks.
“Joshua loved burns day, especially the irn bru 🤣 xx” and
“Joshua loves to do “cheers”” 😊 x”
She also liked the photos of Nancy working with friends to make our Chinese dragon.
“Nancy concentrating very well. Well done my baby girl” 😀 and “Nancy looks like she is waiting so patiently to have her turn at decorating with some glitter 😊 “
Thank you for taking the time to leave us comments. It’s good to know that our families are using the blog.

Burns Day Take Two
As promised, we wanted to share some photos from our afternoon Burns celebration. As you can see, the children looked great wearing tartan and most were keen to sample the shortbread, tattie scones, cheese and Irn Bru.
Burns Day
Last week we celebrated Burns Day with shortbread, tattie scones and cheese and, of course, Irn Bru. We appreciate everyone making a super effort to provide the children with ‘a touch o’ tartan’ – we thought that they looked wonderful. Here you can see some of the morning children enjoying their celebration. Afternoon photos will follow soon.
Dancing
Nancy’s family enjoyed the photos of the children trying out some Scottish dancing:
“Nancy loves to dance. What a great picture of Nancy enjoying dancing with Bethany 😊”
She certainly showed great enthusiasm for dancing. We are glad that you had fun with the Scottish music and dancing Nancy.
A Touch O’ Tartan
We would like to remind you that we plan to celebrate Burn’s Day with a small celebration tomorrow, Thursday 25th January. It would add to the occasion if the children could wear a little ‘touch o’ tartan’. Hopefully most of them have or can borrow a hairband, a ribbon or a scarf for the day and anyone who has a kilt or a tartan outfit would certainly help us to celebrate the day in style. If your child does not have anything tartan, please do not buy anything new as this is a very informal occasion and they will hopefully enjoy themselves regardless of what they are wearing.
