Where Would You Fly?

As the children in the afternoon waved their little butterflies goodbye, we asked them where they would like to fly to if they were butterflies.

James: I would fly to my Grandad’s farm. It won’t take me long to fly.
Safoora: on a tree.
Letti: I would fly on a balloon.
Mason: on a house. I would eat fruit.
Joshua: I would fly on a tree and dig a hole and find a door with key and lock it.
Emilia H: to a tree house with flowers and a barbecue.
Frankie: I would go into a bush of daffodils.
Archie: fly to Disney World.
Kyle: I would like to fly into a tree. It will have green leaves.
Bethany: I would fly in trees. I would find food and eat oranges, strawberries and bananas.
Jagoda: I would fly on a balloon to the garden.
Oscar: I would find a house with a garden and live in it.
Tom: I would fly in the trees.
Ally-May: I would like to fly in Scotland.
Tiana-Rose: fly to a garden with flowers and I would be happy.

Bye Bye Butterflies

It seems like they have been in Nursery for a long time but, after caring for them, we finally released the butterflies that the children had observed so closely from being little caterpillars. Although they did not seem keen to leave us, Miss Kerr gave them a helping hand to settle on our plants in the outdoor area which gave everyone a chance to have a close look at our little butterflies before we waved them goodbye. Here are the morning children giving them a fond farewell.

Minibeast Hunt

The children’s interest in minibeasts has developed over the past few weeks as we have talked about life cycles and kept an eye on our growing caterpillars. The outdoor area has been a hive of activity as some of the children have investigated exactly which minibeasts live in our garden. Here is a little gallery of our young scientists at work. Some of the photos were taken by them too so good work boys and girls.

Busy Times

Joshua and Nancy’s family has been enjoying the photos of the Big Pedal Fun Day and the seed planting and have left us some lovely comments.

“Joshua & Nancy look like they are raring to go. They loved being in the playground on the bikes 😁.”

“Wow Nancy looks like she was concentrating very hard when planting her sunflower seeds. Clever girl, well done 😊.”

“Well done Joshua on concentrating very well planting your sunflower seeds. Your getting very good at planting & flowers 😊.”

It has certainly been a busy time in Nursery lately but the children never seem to be short of enthusiasm for all our activities.

Exciting Parcel

An exciting little parcel arrived in Nursery last week which caused everyone to stop and look carefully. It was our own little tub of caterpillars to help our learning about life cycles. The children are keeping a close eye on them and already they have begun to grow. Why not ask the children to show you them in Nursery and see if they can tell you what is going to happen next to our caterpillars?

Growing Plants

Jasmin’s family has been looking at the photos of the children planting their sunflower seeds:

“Jasmin was thrilled to have planted her own flower and is continuing to look after it and watch it grow at home.”

Fingers crossed that it keeps growing Jasmin and then you will be able to plant it in your garden

Family Learning

Our PEEP sessions with Eileen, the Family Learning Co-ordinator, started again last week and, when I popped in, this little group was enjoying a story and various activities linked to seeds which supported the learning they had been doing in Nursery. They will now have cress as well as a sunflower to look after so they are going to be busy little gardeners.
The first morning session is planned for Tuesday of this week and Eileen will have an afternoon session again on Thursday. We hope that those taking part have lots of fun.
