Buddy Fun

We have had another lovely comment about our buddies from Freya’s family:

“Freya loves when her buddy Tyra comes to visit her in nursery. It’s lovely for mummy & daddy to hear all the stories of the fun times they have together & reassuring Freya will have someone to look out for her in P1. Thank you Tyra “

Freya and Tyra are certainly having fun together in Nursery and the playground. Sounds like Freya will be looking forward to Tyra looking after her when she moves to Primary 1.

Thank You Danielle

After our buddies have had some super positive comments from parents, it’s lovely to see that they too have been looking on our blog. Danielle left this comment:

“Love playing with my buddy and I hope she does too! And also hope to make new friends in the nursery this year!”

Thanks very much Danielle for taking the time to visit the blog. We are sure that your new Nursery friends love seeing you as they look forward to your visits. Keep up the good work!

Good Buddies

The children who will go to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth next year are now getting to know their buddies and good relationships are being built up. We feel sure that Jayden’s buddy will be happy to know that he must be doing a good job as Jayden’s Mum left a lovely comment:

“Jayden has been excited about his buddy and enjoys spending time with him which is lovely”

The buddies will be spending more time with the children in the weeks to come and we feel sure that they will all do a good job. Keep up the good work everyone.

Playing Together

Lots of children from P5 and P6/5 took the time on the last day of term to come and play in Nursery. They are building good relationships with our children and it is lovely to see the older and younger children playing so happily together. We look forward to lots of opportunities next term when the older children can join Nursery for various activities.

Paint, Pens and Pencils

Inspired by our visits out to the community and visitors to Nursery, the children have been taking their learning about various jobs into the art and drawing/writing areas. Some very good work has been produced and a colourful selection is now on display in the school corridor. We are delighted that some of the children have shown great interest in adding writing to their work which hopefully you can see from some of the photos below.
Anyone who is coming to our Literacy workshops and parent consultations on Monday 31st March can have a closer look (our display is opposite Mrs.Alexander’s office) but in the meantime here are some examples to enjoy.

Primary 6 Comment

Rebecca from Primary 6 has been looking at our blog and commented on playing with the Nursery children:

“It is such great fun playing with all the nursery kids i cant wait to find out who my buddy is”.
“It is so much fun and its great to meet new friends”

You are all doing a super job Rebecca. Thank you for visiting our blog and leaving a comment.

Thanks To Primary 6

Ava’s Mum made a lovely comment on the photo of Nursery and Primary 6 playing together:

“This is such a lovely photo, the children look so happy playing together. Ava loves the girls & boys from Primary 6 coming to play in Nursery, I hear lots of stories at home about the fun they have had. It is very reassuring to know that the older children look out for the little ones.”

It’s nice to hear that Ava’s talking about Primary 6 at home. They really are so kind and patient with our Nursery children, even giving up some of their own break to play with them. Well done Primary 6. Keep up the good work.

“Let’s Play At Being Primary 6”

Friday means Primary 6 day in Nursery as that is when they visit to play with the Nursery children. Primary 6 are all becoming very popular with the younger children and are proving themselves to be good role models who are patient and encouraging in their play. Children in the Sunshine Room have become so fond of their visitors that we are now hearing them say, “Let’s play at being Primary 6”. What greater compliment could you have? Thank you to everyone in Primary 6 who comes to play. You are showing yourselves to be responsible citizens and great role models to the Nursery children.

Primary 6 In Nursery

Children from Primary 6 have been coming to Nursery to play with our children since before Christmas and Nursery children have absolutely loved their visits. The older children have learned how to relate to young children and have built good relationships with them to the extent that some are chatting in the garden at school break time even when it’s not a day for visits. It’s also been lovely that we have had some Primary 6 children who have been able to talk to our Polish children in their native language which has added to their experience.
Thank you to all Primary 6 children who are involved in Nursery. We appreciate that you have volunteered to come to play with our children, sometimes in your own break time, and hope that you will continue to visit us. Thank you also to Mrs. Johnston and Miss McAuley for encouraging Primary 6 to take on this important role.
