Children in Need

We’re glad that everyone seemed to enjoy “Children in Need”. We did all have lots of fun joining in with the dancing that we watched on the Promethean board. Hayden’s Mum posted a lovely comment on her photo:

“Hayden really enjoyed taking part in the children in need day at the nursery especially the dancing. Hayden has settled in very well and made lots of new friends and loves coming to Nursery and learning new things. The staff are also very friendly and helpful keep up the good work”.

Thanks to all our families for your support in encouraging the children to join in the spirit of the day by wearing spots.

Family Fun

It was great to see lots of parents and children taking part in our recent Family Learning activity which linked to our learning about Diwali. As promised, here are some photos of you decorating your footprints and some lovely examples of your designs. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves so we hope that you’re looking forward to Eileen’s next activity.
In the meantime, remember that you can collect an activity sack on a Thursday to take home for the week.

Ollie and His Mum Enjoy Family Learning

Thanks to everyone who came to the Family Learning activity today.

Ollie’s Mum left us a comment saying, “What a fun morning with Eileen , mrs carruthers and the other children and their mummy’s decorating our footprints for Diwali. It’s great to be involved. Thank you.”

I hope to put some photos on the blog in the next few days. It certainly looked like good fun so thanks go to Eileen for organising this activity for us.

Family Learning

Our learning this week is focussing on Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. We would like to remind you that Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, is offering an activity linked to this on Thursday 15th  and Friday 16th November. You can come along with your child to the learning room where the activity bags are given out and have fun together. Younger brothers and sisters are welcome too.

Eileen has put a notice up on the Family Learning board in the corridor beside the Rainbow Room’s cloakroom – simply add your name in the
time slot that suits you to take part. We hope that lots of families enjoy this activity. It’s a great way to have fun with your child and perhaps make some new friends.

Kailey’s Comment

Kailey’s Mum commented on her photo: “Very well done kailey mummy and daddy are very proud of you! it is so good to see that you have settled into nursery very well, well done to all the boys and girls who receive the certificates x”

We are all very proud of them too! Keep up the good work children. Miss Wilson loves it when you visit her and she hears how clever you have been.

Find a Sign of Autumn

Thank you for encouraging the children to learn about Autumn by bringing in a fantastic variety of things they have found on walks with their families. The frog that hopped out of the wheat certainly gave Miss Kerr something to think about as she added it to the display area and the children were very excited to get a close look, once it was safe in a bucket.
Last week we went on a nature walk to search for signs of Autumn within the school grounds. Unfortunately, no frogs were to be found there but, as you can see, we had a great time learning about the changes to nature in Autumn.

Clever Cooks

Soup and porridge have been on the menu this week in Nursery and some delicious smells have been hanging in the air. In the Rainbow Room the children used potatoes, carrots and onions to make simple soup while the Sunshine Room poured and mixed to make porridge just like the three bears. We learned about basic hygiene when cooking and about staying safe around hot pans and dishes. Here are some photos of the cooks in action.
