Tiny Caterpillars

Tiny caterpillars arrived in Nursery recently and we have all been watching their growth with great excitement. When we returned to Nursery last Monday, the caterpillars in both the Rainbow and Sunshine Rooms had formed their cocoons so we carefully transferred them to their nets and now await the arrival of our butterflies. I wonder which butterflies will emerge first? If you ask the children, they will be able to show you the cocoons in Nursery and tell you all about what has happened.

Medals and Ice Lollies

We would like to thank everyone who came to cheer the children on their Fun Activity Day despite chilly weather. We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of them all as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. Those medals and ice lollies were certainly well deserved and we hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really were ‘confident individuals’. Thank you also to the ‘responsible citizens’ of Primary 6 and 7/6 who were super helpers on the day. Here are some photos from the morning event. The afternoon photos will be posted soon.

Wheely Good Day

Last week we had a “Wheely Good Day” when the school had a breakfast club for all those who brought their bikes or scooters, followed by fun activities for both morning and afternoon Nursery children as well as those in school. It was great to see that some Nursery children joined us for a breakfast of yoghurt, cereal bars, fruit and a drink and we were delighted with the number who brought their bikes and scooters to take part in the activities on offer.
Thank you to everyone who helped to organise this event and gave up their own time. What a great way to keep fit and healthy – the children had super fun.

Hecklegirth Adventures

Callum and Tobias (P6) seem to be having a great time getting to know each other. Callum’s family left a comment saying,

“What a great picture! Callum has been keeping us up to date with his adventures with Tobias”

Tobias also left a comment saying,

“It has been great showing Callum around the playground. Callum seems to be having a good time! Looking forward to our next adventure!”

It sounds like you two are building a great relationship.

Buddy Letters

As promised, here are some photos of the Primary 6 buddies in the Sunshine Room meeting the Nursery children and some of their families when they came to deliver their introductory letters. Thank you for all your super work Primary 6 – we are sure that our parents appreciate your efforts. We look forward to you taking the Nursery children to the playground soon.

Meet The Buddies

The children who will be moving on to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth in August now know who their own buddy will be and Primary 6 children are making such a good job of building relationships with their new little friends.
The buddies very kindly took the time to write letters to their Nursery child’s family so that they know a little about them and in the last few days they have introduced themselves to their parents or grandparents. We hope that this has eased a few of the worries you may have had about your child moving to Primary 1 and that you enjoy sharing the letters with your children.
Thank you Primary 6 children for doing a super job. You certainly are responsible citizens and effective contributors! Here are some Rainbow Room buddy photos. Sunshine Room will follow soon.

When I’m Grown-Up …

As the children have been finding out about the various jobs that are available to them in the future, they have begun to think about which career they might be interested in.

Julia: I’m going to be an artist. They draw and paint.
Max A.: I want to be a rock star.
Finlay G.: I want to drive a train.
Jenson: ride in a fire engine.
Suzie: I want to be a princess sitting on a throne. I’d look after my pets – a rabbit, a dog and a cat.
Summer: I want to be a nurse.
Jacob: I want to be a policeman and drive a police car and wear a police hat.
Fearne: I want to be in a band.
Armana: I want to be a pet shop lady.
Conan: I want to be a boxer with a belt.
Oliver: I want to fly an aeroplane.
Keira R.: be a sweetie seller and sell lots of sweeties on a shop on the corner.
Effy: I want to be a builder. You build houses.
Mollie: I want to be a hairdresser ’cause I like doing my Barbie’s hair.
Eden: I’m going to be a postie when I’m bigger ’cause my Daddy’s a postie.
Charlie: I want to build a big castle.
Isaac: I want to be a fire fighter.
Ayda: I want to be a teacher.
Katie: be a butcher. I’d make cows for everyone.
Joe W.: I want to be a spaceman and go to the moon.
Kacey: I want to be a baker. I’d bake muffins and rolls.
Sophie M: be a flower grower and make and sell them in my shop.

We love all their super ideas. I wonder if any of them will come true?
