Thank You Mrs. Kirkpatrick

I wonder if any of you have been checking up on the Nursery planter on the High Street when you have gone out for a walk? Mrs. Kirkpatrick has been very busy tidying it up and taking out all the weeds to keep it looking healthy and beautiful for anyone walking past. We think that she has done a super job and that the planter is looking lovely.

Thank you very much Mrs. Kirkpatrick from everyone for all your hard work. We hope that lots of Nursery children and their families enjoy having a look at our planter when out for a walk.

From Alfie To Grandma

Alfie from the Raindrop Room has sent us a wonderful picture of his work that he has sent to his Grandma. His family said,

“Grandma lives a long way away. So we sent her her very own Alfie. We drew round Alfie which he found very ticklish then Alfie painted himself complete with glasses & crazy hair! Grandma can now wrap Alfieā€™s arms around her whenever she needs a cuddle.”

They also wrote a lovely poem for his Grandma which you can see attached to his picture. What a thoughtful gift for your Grandma, Alfie. We think that you will have made her very happy indeed. Thank you so much for sharing your super work with us. It’s lovely for everyone to see what you have been doing at home.

Isaac’s Tadpoles

In a post yesterday it was mentioned that one of our families plans to care for tadpoles in the next few weeks. You may be interested to see this bowl of tadpoles which Isaac W is caring for as part of his little tadpole project at home. We hope that you send us a photo of their development in the future so that we can all see how they are progressing.

Creating Memories Together

We would like to share this lovely gallery from one of our children, showing what she has been doing at home while Nursery is closed. We think that you will be amazed at how busy she has been.

She has been doing a lot of biking…4 miles a day to be precise! She is very fast, in fact can beat her mummy!!!

The family has been keeping busy in the garden, doing crafts, creating a fairy garden, redesigning her play house, planting plants, creating potions, weeding and painting lots of stones from the shore!

They created an Easter window display for a competition at her big sister’s school, it kept them busy for days!

They have been baking and decorating lots of cupcakes then enjoying eating them and sharing them with their elderly neighbours who they have been checking in on! With some help from her big sister she even made her mummy and daddy dinner one night! The family also made ice cream sundaes as a treat!

As always this little girl has been doing lots of role play with her sister! Midwives, teachers, princesses, hair dressers and they even set up a Spa and a Cinema to watch the new Trolls movie!

She loved watching the clip of Mrs Maxwell reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar which is her favourite bedtime story so she created a picture of the ‘fat caterpillar’ for her.

Their next project is growing butterflies and caring for tadpoles! Let’s hope they are as successful as last year!!

What a super time you have been having, creating wonderful memories together. We look forward to hearing about the butterflies and tadpoles once they start growing.
Thank you so much for sending us your photos and lots of news about what you have been doing with your family. We love to hear from everyone. Keep having fun and learning together.

National Superheroes Day

Today, 28th April, is National Superheroes Day and there are certainly plenty superheroes supporting our communities in current difficult times.
Why not discuss with your children who they think are the superheroes in our community? They could choose which superhero they would like to say ‘thank you’ to and make a mask to represent them. They may even have something at home that they could use as a cape? Have fun turning into superheroes everyone.

Welcome Visitors

Our Primary 6 buddies are always welcome visitors to Nursery and have been doing a super job of building relationships with our children. We have a few photos to share of their recent visits and hope that it’s not too long before the Nursery children and buddies can all meet again.

Fun Home Activities

Here is another little gallery of some great activities from home. We love your beautifully decorated hat and the plants look bright and colourful to cheer up your garden. I wonder if you are needing to water them lots as we don’t seem to have had rain for such a long time? It’s great to have the responsibility of looking after your own plants and we feel sure that you will do a super job of it.

Independent Children

The children are encouraged to develop independence in Nursery and most love being given responsibility to look after their own resources. When experimenting with colour mixing the children need to wash their pots and trays to free up space to try new combinations of colours and, as you can see, they have become very independent at this. We hope that they are able to show you at home how good they are at washing pots and plates.

Visit Our Planter

As you may have noticed in the local paper, we have taken over responsibility for one of the planters on the High Street. Small groups of children have been visiting it and we have made a start in looking after it, recently adding a selection of plants. A new plaque was also added, just prior to our unexpected closure, so we have the Hecklegirth logo in place to help everyone find our planter.
Perhaps some of you could go a walk to find it one day (opposite The Blue Bell Inn) and let us know if the plants are still looking healthy?

A Little Cheer

As we have been unable to continue with our visits to Lydiafield due to the current COVID-19 virus situation, the children have created a selection of artwork to send to the ladies and gentlemen in the hope that they may provide a little cheer at a time when they are not seeing any visitors. We would like to share a little gallery of their Spring flowers and hope that the residents of Lydiafield enjoy the childrenā€™s work.
