We recently noticed that the links to “Every Day’s A Learning Day” were not working and have now updated them. You can find the links for the “Birth to Three” and “Three To Six” booklets on the right hand side of this page under “Useful Reading”. We recommend these publications as easy to read books for all parents/carers and hope that you find them useful and interesting. Apologies if you had been trying to access them without success.

Talking About Autumn
Learning about Autumn this term has been helped greatly by the children’s super contributions to our display. Chestnuts, acorns, various berries and leaves of so many colours have been collected by the children and their families. Good talking skills have been evident as the children shared their finds with others and talked about where they had found them. Thank you so much to all those families who have taken the time to talk to their children about the signs of Autumn and have helped them find examples. The children have shown great enthusiasm to look at and talk about our display.
Well Done Derry
Derry’s family is delighted with his recent certificate:
“Derry was so excited to show us his certificate – well done Derry x
Thank you to all the staff, he is really enjoying his time in nursery.”
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment. Derry certainly deserved that certificate.
Happy Families
Two of our families have left lovely comments about the children’s performance today. Jasmin’s family said,
“They were all fantastic, well done!”
Brooke’s family enjoyed the performance too:
“Thank you very much for inviting us to watch the children sing, was lovely to come and listen to and watch Brooke do what she loves the best and sing her wee heart and perform. All the children done really well today, they were so confident in standing up in front of a big crowd to sing.”
Thank you for leaving such kind comments. We really appreciate it. We will shortly post a couple of photos of the children ready to perform.
Songs For Our families
We would like to remind you that, as we come towards the end of our learning about Autumn, you can come a little early to collect the children tomorrow, Wednesday 11th October, to hear them singing a few songs that they have been practising.
Please use the Nursery entrance to arrive for 11.40 or 2.45, depending on the session your child attends, if you wish to hear the children singing.

Family Comments
After our apologies below about the problem with comments on our blog, here is a taster of some of the comments that our families have left recently.
Patrick’s family liked the photos of the children enjoying the lollies round the fire.
“What an exciting day. Camp fire and rocket ice lollies!! Patrick said that was a tasty rocket! 😊 “
Joshua’s Mum was pleased to read the children’s ideas about friendship: “It’s lovely to see all the children’s replys, Joshua’s especially 😄” and commented on our campfire and lolly day: “Joshua said he had fun that day 😊 “
Enid’s family was pleased with her artwork: “Lovely colourful picture by Enid, her knowledge of shapes has really improved lately.”
Bethany’s family liked the photos of the children on Maths Week: “Bethany was so excited to bring her game in and play for maths week”
Leah’s family left a comment on a painting photo: “Leah just loves painting at Nursery .”
Thank you so much for leaving comments and apologies for the delay in posting them. It’s great to know that you are enjoying this taster of life in Nursery.
Apologies
Only today we discovered that several parents have left comments on our blog recently but that we have not been able to see them. We can only apologise for what must have seemed like a lack of response from us but we were totally unaware that these comments had been left as they were not appearing in the usual manner.
After a few phone calls we seem to have resolved this issue and will now catch up with your comments. We hope that lots more of you will post your views from now on.
Thank you particularly to Freddie’s Mum because without her help we could have gone a long time unaware that this was happening. She left a comment saying that “Freddie was delighted with this certificate” and also “brilliant effort from everyone in Hecklegirth Primary and Nursery. Lovely pic of the children in their purple x” (referring to our recent fundraising day). Thank you for taking the time to leave comments and apologies for the delay in publishing them.
Fantastic Fundraising
We are delighted to announce that Hecklegirth Primary and Nursery raised over £600 on “Wear Purple Day”. Thank you so much for all your generous donations. Photos will follow soon.
Dates For Your Diary
I have now added several events in our “Dates for Your Diary” link on the right under “Support Information”, including a visit by the school photographer and several events for school and Nursery parents/carers. Please click on the link for details and continue to keep an eye on this link for upcoming events. We hope that this is helpful for everyone.
Hecklegirth Fundraisers
We would like to remind you that Hecklegirth Fundraisers are holding their AGM on Monday 25th September at 6.00. All children in our school and Nursery benefit from the super efforts of this fundraising group so it would be great if Nursery parents could help to support them by popping along to their meeting where you can find out what they do and how to become involved as part of our community.
