Clever Problem Solvers

Here are some clever little problem solvers busy at work in our garden earlier in the week. We talked about emptying our water butt, as the rainwater had been sitting over the holidays, but we needed to work out how to get the water out without making a massive puddle in the mud kitchen area.
With a bit of a chat about possible solutions and a peek inside to see how much rainwater we were talking about (a lot!), the children decided to hold the hose under the tap to catch the water and then let the water drain away at the side of the fence out of the way of everyone’s play. What a team! They showed good thinking skills and great perseverance as they worked away as a team to get the job done. Now we have an empty water butt waiting for fresh rainwater. Well done all of you!

Chats Round The Fire

Brooke’s family has been enjoying the photos of the children making toast outdoors:

“Wow, what a great idea, looks like all the kids enjoyed toasting their own snack and all looked like they knew how to keep themselves safe, well done everyone. Can tell Brooke enjoyed it by that big smile on her face 😀 xx”

It’s funny how the toast tastes so much better made on the fire. The children certainly love doing this and have such great chats round the fire.

Outdoor Snack

Come rain, wind or sun everyone loves a fire in the Nursery garden and it is even better when we have a little snack to cook. One chilly day towards the end of last term a few children suggested that we could warm up outdoors by setting a camp fire so that is exactly what we did.
We all had to think about the wind direction that day as it was quite blowy but the children soon worked out the best seats to avoid smoke in their faces and to stay safe. This little group was well rewarded with some delicious toast cooked on the fire. Great teamwork all of you, working out how to stay safe and helping each other to make your toast and spread it.

Well Done Brooke

Brooke’s family likes the photos of the children feeding the birds:

“Great photos, Since this, Brooke has been helping feed the birds at home and at her Grannies house a lot and has been telling us all about how they find it hard to get food when it’s snowy and cold so we need to feed them.”

Well done Brooke – you have been listening well. Those little birds will be really pleased that you are thinking of them in the cold weather.

Feed The Birds

After our recent days off Nursery due to snow, we had lots of bread that was heading for the bin in our snack area. However, the children decided to give the birds a little helping hand in the cold weather and very kindly put it out in the garden for them. No doubt our little feathered friends were very grateful for our help in the cold weather.

Walk And Chat

Over the past few weeks Monday has become the day for some of our children to enjoy a walk with our kind and helpful Primary 6 buddies. As part of the whole school Daily Mile activity, we have been looking after our Health and Wellbeing by taking a stroll round the school outdoor area. There have been some great chats along the way and we are very impressed by the way that Primary 6 has learned to engage in conversation with our younger pupils, finding out what they are interested in and chatting to them about it. Thank you to Primary 6 for giving us your time – our children really look forward to your visits.

Confident Individuals

Brooke’s family has been looking of the photos of Primary 6 visiting the Nursery:

“What a lovely photo of Brooke looking so confident and so happy in talking to one of the buddies out in the garden 😀”

It is lovely to see the older children building good relationships with our children.
