Fit And Healthy

Just like the afternoon children, those in the morning session started off Health Week with several laps of walking round the school grounds. It was lovely to have some of the Primary 6 buddies supporting them on their journey and the drinks station was a great addition on such a warm day. Well done everyone for a super effort to keep fit and healthy.

Health Week Challenge

Health Week is well and truly underway and the sunshine seemed to know that we had some outdoor fun planned for today. It was a gorgeous day for our initial challenge of walking round the school field and playground to begin our keep fit campaign and the children measured up to the challenge, walking round the circuit several times. Here is a taster of some of the children striding out in the afternoon session. More photos will follow as the week progresses.

Summer Is Here

As the weather seems to be getting a little warmer, we ask that you please remember to send your child to Nursery wearing sun cream. We also suggest that they wear older clothes, if they tend to be children who enjoy the fun and mud of the great outdoors, as it can be too warm to wear the outdoor suits that they wear for most of the year. Clothes can get a little worse for wear once some children get into action in the mud kitchen so it would be helpful if they came dressed ready for outdoor play.

Biking To School

Emilia’s family has been looking at the photos of Big Pedal Fun Day:

“Emilia really enjoyed the bike session and loves taking her bike to school.”

We are glad that you enjoyed the different activities Emilia. You have certainly been keeping up with the idea of cycling to school and always arrive with a lovely smile on your face. Keep up the good work.

Big Pedal Fun Day

Friday was Big Pedal Fun Day for everyone at Hecklegirth as the children brought bikes and scooters to participate in great fun activities in the school playground under the guidance of some super volunteers. Despite the chilly weather, the children showed great confidence and enthusiasm to try out the challenges set for them. Thank you to everyone who helped to organise this event and gave up their own time. The children had super fun and experienced a great way to keep fit and healthy.
Here are the morning children in action. Photos of the afternoon children will follow in the next day or two.

Big Pedal Fun Day

We would like to remind you that our Big Pedal Event which has been running for almost two weeks will come to a conclusion tomorrow, Friday 4th May, with a Fun Day. All classes, including Nursery, have been timetabled to take part in cycling events with Annan Cycling Club and Katie Robinson, I Bike Officer. For those who returned the reply slip, a cycling breakfast will also be available for those who cycle or scoot to school that day.
Please remember to bring your bike or scooter tomorrow to take part in the fun activities.

Happy Times

Joshua and Nancy’s family has been looking through our recent posts and kindly left us several lovely comments.

“Nancy & Joshua loved the visit to Tesco 😊 “

“Lovely photo of all the children in front of the fire 😊 “

I think all the children enjoyed visiting the police station, especially getting to all have a turn at putting sirens on 😊. Nancy loved pressing the buttons Joshua loved sitting in the driving seat pressing the buttons for the lights & sirens 😁”

“Joshua said mummy I was waiting patiently for my turn to help water the plants 😀”

” Aw Nancy looks like she is concentrating very hard. She loves planting flowers & gardening 😊”

We are glad that the children seem to have thoroughly enjoyed our recent activities. Thank you for taking the time to leave us comments.

Planting

As we began to see some signs of Spring last week and the children noticed things growing outdoors, we decided to fill some of our planters ready for the sunshine. There was no shortage of helpers to fill the tubs with compost and put the plants in, as we talked about how we would look after our plants and help them to grow. Plenty water and sunshine seemed to be the popular answer. We certainly have no shortage of water and hope that we get the sunshine that the children want to help our little garden to grow.
