As the children in the Raindrop Room have been showing great interest in dinosaurs, an egg was brought in for them to hatch. Here the children have just discovered that their little dinosaur has hatched and they are discussing what type of dinosaur it might be and wondering how big it could grow.

Word Of The Week
‘Community’ is “Word of the Week” in the Raindrop Room while those in the Rainbow Room will focus on ‘time’.
Our Favourite Books
As part of our World Book day discussions the children in the Rainbow Room talked about their favourite books and who reads to them.
Alex: the tractor book, my Mummy reads it.
Berrie: princess stories are the best.
Tom: I like “Tom the Tractor”, Daddy reads it to me.
Isaac M: “Bing the Bunny” book, my Mummy reads it at bedtime.
Sophie G.: we get books from the library.
Alfie H.: “Room on the Broom”.
Leigha: princess books.
Alfie J.: the monster book.
Danielle: “Peppa Pig”. I read it myself.
Zack: “Paw Patrol, my brother and Daddy read it.
Jessica: “Max and the Kitten”, my Nanny reads it.
Freddie: “Tom the Tractor”.
Poppy: “Peppa Pig”. Mummy and me read it.
Jackson: “Captain Underpants”. My brother reads me it.
It sounds like we have lots of lucky children listening to stories at home.
The Three Little Pigs
Having shown great enthusiasm for their focus book “The Three Little Pigs” last week, this group in the Rainbow Room extended their learning to the outdoor area, enthusiastically retelling the tale and using it as part of their imaginative play. As you can see, they even turned into designers and builders when they created their own ‘house of sticks’ in the garden. Super team work!
Word Of The Week
‘Community’ will be “Word of the Week” in the Rainbow Room while the Raindrop Room children will focus on ‘measure’ as their “Word of the Week”.
World Book Day
World Book Day is a great opportunity to celebrate our favourite books and to encourage the children to enjoy stories. This year, as part of a whole school celebration, the children were encouraged to to bring in their favourite books and some also decided to dress up which was lovely.
We were very lucky to have Primary 6 in Nursery as super visiting storytellers which produced a lovely reading afternoon for all. Thank you to all our families for participating in World Book Day. Staff and Primary 6 enjoyed sharing the stories from home.
Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you very much to everyone who purchased from our Book Fair. We raised a total of £1041 which provides the school with £624 worth of free books. Well done everyone!
Our Emotions Tree
The children in the Raindrop Room spent time recently talking about their emotions as part of a Wellbeing focus. Some of their thoughts were collected on an emotions tree to display in Nursery. We were impressed that the children were able to talk about their emotions and are beginning to understand what can cause them.
Ella: I feel happy when Mummy takes me to the park.
Summer: I’m scared of cobwebs and spiders.
Noah: I’m scared when Daddy puts the light out.
Luca: I’m happy when music is playing.
Freya: I’m scared when I have a bad dream.
William: I’m happy when my friends share with me.
Skye: I’m happy playing with Lola.
Emily: I’m happy when I’m outside with my brother Archie.
Mason: I’m scared of monsters.
Macaulay: I’m scared when Mummy turns the lamp off.
Violeta: I’m happy when I play together with Summer.
Barclay: I’m happy when I go to soft play.
Story Session
We are holding a Nursery story session on Thursday 12th March at 2.30. We would like to invite parents/carers into Nursery to listen to an Easter story with your child. Younger siblings are welcome to join us. We hope to hold more of these story sessions as the year progresses.
A reply slip is in your child’s tray to confirm attendance. We look forward to seeing lots of you then.
Story Telling Visit
After visits to the Technology and Music departments at Annan Academy in the past, our next invitation came from Miss Nixon, the school librarian. As you can see, this little group was very relaxed and happy in the Academy library and thoroughly enjoyed Miss Nixon’s story telling.
Miss Nixon has kindly invited us to visit her on a regular basis for the rest of term so lots of children will have the opportunity to enjoy this super experience. Thank you to the staff at Annan Academy for continuing to make us feel so welcome and, of course, to the children who made us very proud of their behaviour and interaction with the story telling.
