Mollie’s Sunflowers

We have had a super photo sent from home:

“Mollie’s sunflowers , hopefully they will go in a pot each at the weekend!”

Well done Mollie – you’ve really looked after your sunflowers. Good luck with the planting at the week-end. I wonder how everyone else is getting on with their sunflowers?

What is an incubator for?

In an earlier post we talked about a new arrival in Nursery (see below). The children tried to work out what the new addition might be and then they were to ask at home what an incubator does.
Here are some of the children’s ideas.

Jayden: it’s an egg box. It warms eggs up to help them crack.
Finlay: baby hens can hatch.
Joey: it’s an egg warmer and keeps the eggs cosy.
Simon: a thermometer keeps an eye on the temperature.
Zachary: it’s for hatching eggs.
Brogan: I see a monitor. It checks the time.
Ciaran: chicks come out of the eggs.
Tom: the Mummy chicken isn’t there so the incubator is keeping the eggs warm. They are going to be chicks.
Bethany: it needs electricity.
Rebecca: there is eggs and there is going to be lots of chicks.
Mary: it’s warm to keep the chickens warm and cosy.
Lexi: I think the chicks are going to be in Nursery to say ‘Hello’.
Sophie L.: the incubator is warming the eggs up.

Well done boys and girls. We think that you done good research at home. Thank you also to Simon’s Mum and Dad who have brought us eggs for our incubator. I wonder when they will start to hatch?

Monsters and Dragons

As we have been talking about dragons, as part of our learning about Chinese New Year, we set you a challenge of making a Hecklegirth monster or dragon at home with your families. We have some very creative drawings and models arrive in Nursery and we think that they are all wonderful. The children are always so pleased to share what they have done with their families and it helps to make those important links between Nursery and home.
We hope you enjoy our little gallery showing some of the fantastic Hecklegirth monsters and dragons. Well done everyone!

We Loved Our Snowmen

Some of our families have enjoyed seeing their children’s home activity on our blog:

“Bethany loved making this snowman picture but she was most upset there was no ‘big sister’ snowman and so added her own!”

“Carmen loved this task. She likes to cut and stick things down. As you can see her favourite colour is purple and pink ha ha”

Thank you to all our families for helping the children with their snowmen at home. It’s lovely to see so many of you taking part.

Super Snowmen

We have been so delighted to see all the wonderful snowmen that you boys and girls have done as a home activity. Not only have you managed to design your snowmen and put them in order of size, as we suggested, but some of you have even added your own writing which is fantastic. Well done everyone who has taken part in this activity. We love your work.

Daphne’s Day In Nursery

Carmen’s Mum left a comment on her photo with Daphne bear:

“Carmen was very excited to be taking Daphne bear in to Nursery to see all her friends. She told me that Daphne was a good bear that day . She also told me that she would like to have another day where she could take another teddy.. Please!”

We’re glad to hear that Daphne enjoyed herself. We will keep in mind that Carmen has a few teddies she would like to bring to Nursery. I wonder if anyone else would like to do this another day?

Bring A Bear Day

We had some very special visitors to the Sunshine Room one day last week as Miss Murray asked the children to bring in their favourite bears as part of a Listening and Talking activity. The children were excited to tell us about their bears and the bears certainly seemed to enjoy their time in Nursery.
We thought that you would enjoy some of the children’s comments and photos of our special visitors.

Deryn: it’s Gizmo. I got it on holiday.
Ava: it’s George. He’s on the tele’. He stays on my bed.
Logan: Barney sleeps on my bed. We’ve got bunk beds. I like him ’cause he can dance.
William: his name’s Patch because he’s got his name on his collar. He can do flips.
Robbie: I love her. She’s called Sky.
Roxy: I love her ’cause I can cuddle her. She’s called Lucy and she’s got glasses, clothes and a hat.
Fearne: he’s Neville. He sleeps in my bed and plays with me in the morning. He sits on my pillow.
Rebecca: I got it when I was a baby. I cuddle up with it in my bed.

Baby Photos

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Nursery tomorrow. We would like to remind you to bring in your baby photos, if possible, to promote our discussions about how we change as we get older. It should be good fun for the children to try to pick out which photo belongs to which child and will bring to life our learning about growth and how to look after a baby.
