We Love The Hecklegirth Monsters

More of our families have been enjoying our gallery of Hecklegirth monsters.

“Kacey had fun making her monster, she said she was going to call him Robbie after Robbie Burns!” Good name choice Kacey.

“All the Hecklegirth Monsters are brilliant. Great work by everyone. I especially like Sparkle she is lovely.”

We love your monster too Orla and agree that all the monsters are super. Thanks to all those families who helped their children make the monsters at home.

Monster Comments

Two of our families have enjoyed looking at some of the Hecklegirth monsters that were made at home.

Callum really enjoyed making his own version of the Hecklegirth monster. We loved looking at the pictures of all the different monsters. Well done everyone.”

“Sophie had a fantastic time making this monster its the prettiest monster I have ever seen.”

It’s nice to hear that Callum and Sophie both had fun making their own monsters. We loved that there were so many different ideas of what the monster should look like.

Hecklegirth Monsters

We would like to share some of the Hecklegirth monsters that the children recently designed and made at home with their families. Inspired by our discussions of the Loch Ness Monster they have produced some wonderful models and drawings of their own. I wonder what the Loch Ness Monster would think of them?

Learning English

Those children who have English as an additional language have been working on a programme in Nursery to support their communication in English. We have now added the first three books with sound to our blog to help your child with their learning at home.
Look down the right hand side of this page under “Support Information” and click on “Learning English”. There you will see instructions to help you use this material.
We hope that this is helpful in supporting the children in their learning, as you can use this tool at home and can hear the correct pronunciation. We plan to put more books on in the future.

Well Done Kacey

Kacey’s Mum has been enjoying the recent posts about our home activity and the Harvest celebration.

“Kacey loved looking for chestnuts and hazel nuts with her big brother.”

“Unfortunately I was unable to come to the harvest celebration but Kacey told me all about it and sang me some songs at home her nana and sister said it was lovely to see all the children singing together!”

Thank you for helping Kacey to collect items for our Autumn display. The children showed great confidence in the Harvest performance and we were all very proud of them.

Autumn Treasure

As you have no doubt noticed, we now have a great collection of leaves, chestnuts, pinecones etc. that the children have brought from home to help us learn about Autumn. Thank you to everyone who went walks in the woods or searched their gardens for signs of Autumn – it’s been lovely to talk to you about what you have gathered. Some have even been creative with their finds and turned them into pictures. Here is a selection of photos of the children with their Autumn treasure as some have called it.

Good Teamwork

Ben’s Mum enjoyed the recent photos of Ben on the blog:

“Well done Ben! We had fun cutting out letters and numbers from old magazines.”

“Wow that looks fantastic, great job everyone!” (painting the raised beds in the garden)

Torrin’s Mum also left us a comment about the recent Family Learning activity:

“Imoen and I just loved getting to spend some crafty time with Torrin and the other children making canvas squares. Its been a joy to be a part of his first term at Nursery :)”

Letters and Numbers

Well done to those children who have brought letters and numbers from home for our display. Our display sheets are filling up now but there’s still room if anyone else wants to bring more in to Nursery. Remember to keep an eye out for letters and numbers when you are out and about – some of you are getting good at telling the difference between them.
