Outdoor Exploration

Most of the children have taken the opportunity to explore the outdoor area in the first two weeks of term so they are learning to change their shoes and put on outdoor suits when they are needed. Some are developing their confidence on the big climbing frame, others have been drawing or making delicious meals in the mud kitchen. The outdoor area is certainly a very popular place to play.

Learning In The Snack Area

An important aspect of learning in Nursery happens in the snack area where children develop a wide range of skills. They develop self-help and social skills as well as fine motor control and independence when helping to prepare their own snack. Literacy and Numeracy are also part of the experience through talking and listening or, for example, counting the number of pieces of fruit on their plates. We hope that you enjoy these first photos of some of the children enjoying their learning in the snack area.

Allergies and Medication

Thank you to all those families who have completed forms to allow us to administer medication to your children if required. We have also used the information from your child’s enrolment form to alert us to any allergies that he/she may have. If your child does have an allergy and you are unsure if this was on the initial form, please ensure that staff are aware of this as we all want to ensure the safety of all the children in our care. Thank you for your support and co-operation with this.

Bug Hotel

After doing some home improvements on our fairy garden towards the end of term, the children decided that the minibeasts visiting our outdoor area might like a hotel to stay in on their visits. Our little hedgehog home looked as if it had been used over the past few months but we needed something for the smaller visitors to the garden.
As you can see, the children worked well together to make their minibeast hotel and it was finished off with a beautiful sign. We hope that our little visitors are enjoying their holidays in our garden and look forward to investigating who is living in our hotel when we return to Nursery.

Fairy Garden

After having decided one day to paint our fairy houses, the children were amazed one afternoon towards the end of term to find that a little fairy door had appeared in a corner of our garden. Excited that the fairies must want to live in our garden, some of the children decided to make it look better for them and worked very hard to pull out lots of weeds.
They very carefully hammered the chimneys in the roofs of the newly painted houses and made a little lake for the fairies so that they felt welcome in the corner of the garden. As you can see, the children did a super job preparing the area and we hope that our fairies enjoy the great DIY job that has been carried out on their homes.

Special Visitors

Hecklegirth had some exciting visitors last week when the Riding of the Marches principals arrived to see everyone. Here are some of the children waiting with the rest of the school to see the principals and their horses. Three of our pupils also had a lovely surprise when they were presented with medals for the Riding of the Marches Nursery ‘Design a Flag’ competition. Well done all of you.
We hope that the weather stays fine for Riding of the Marches and that you all have a lovely family day out if participating on Saturday.

Graduation Take two

As promised, here is a selection of photos of the afternoon children at their graduation ceremony last week. Just like the morning children, they made us feel very proud of them all. Photos of our award winners will follow soon. We hope that you enjoyed our end of year celebration and would like to thank all our families who have provided such wonderful support.

Graduation Celebration

We were all so proud of the children at our graduation ceremony on Wednesday as they sang and danced to celebrate their year in Nursery. They showed great confidence to perform to their families and then to walk on stage on their own to shake hands and receive their certificates.
Thank you to Mr. Palmer for taking time to present the children with their awards and for being so patient to pose with each child so that a precious family photo could be taken. Thank you also to all the family and friends who attended our little ceremony and for your support throughout the year.
Here is a gallery of some of the morning children. I will put photos of the afternoon children on as soon as possible.
