Hall Time
The pre-school children have had their first visits to the hall to enjoy fun activities with Mrs. Foster, our P.E. teacher. They learned that listening skills are very important and had lots of practice at stopping and starting various movements as well as learning how to develop their throwing and catching skills. There is lots to learn and it’s so much fun.
Happy Children And Parents
Sophie E,’s family has been looking at the photos of the children cutting out their love hearts:

It’s lovely to hear that both Sophie and Isaac are enjoying their time in Nursery and settling in well.
Thoughts Of Kindness
We are delighted that the children in the Raindrop Room have been bringing in their hearts from home to tell us about their acts of kindness so thank you for your support with this. To help the children understand what kindness is, we also talked about their thoughts in Nursery and would like to share some of them with you.
Kyla: I help Mummy clean the toys.
Sophie E.: I take care of Toby. He’s my boyfriend and the same age as me. I do lots of things with him and then he’s happy.
Tilly: I share toys with Marnie. I help Daddy with jobs and wash the car.
Barclay: I help Mum and Dad with the washing and I tidy up toys.
Fern: I find dog poo for Daddy to pick up.
Summer: I clean up with Mummy.
William: I tidy up the toys and come downstairs nicely for breakfast. – Mum and Dad look after us.
Isaac W.: I share and I help Mummy do the washing.
Paisley S.: I help Mummy clean up and do the washing and tidy.
Mason: I draw something nice for Mummy.
Lola: I play with Rixon with dinosaurs.
Elise: I help my Daddy wash up.
Luca: I press the button on the toaster to help Mummy. I kiss Mummy.
Kara: I help Mummy and Daddy clean up.
Skye B.: I help Auntie Ang put the pegs in the basket.
Skye D.: I give Belle treats and she gives me paws.
Joely: I help Mummy pick up toys.
Noah: I help with the washing.
Marnie: I let my friends play with my toys and I play with my baby sister at home.
Margo: I share toys with the boys and girls at Eastriggs.
Alfie L.: I do baking with my Mum.
What a lot of kind children we have!
Exploring Outdoors
Most of the children have taken the opportunity to explore the outdoor area in the first two weeks of term so they are learning to change their shoes and put on outdoor suits when they are needed. Some are developing their confidence on the big climbing frame, others have been drawing or exploring our big tubes and tepee. The outdoor area is certainly a very popular place to play.
Branch Of Kindness
Part of the current learning in the Raindrop Room is about kindness as the children have been talking about exactly what kindness is and what it looks like in their lives. As we are keen to nurture our children’s emotional literacy and wellbeing we have hung a “Branch of Kindness” in Nursery. We hope that this will be a creative and heart-warming way to encourage and acknowledge acts of kindness and help to foster positive relationships.
No doubt your child will by now have brought home a heart that he/she has cut out to record at home any acts of kindness he/she has demonstrated. As each heart is returned and hung on our branch we will watch it come to life and bloom with kindness. Please feel free to collect more hearts to write on as you need them.

Congratulations
Huge congratulations to our first award winners of the new Nursery year for showing kindness towards our new children in their first few days. We think that you both thoroughly deserved your certificates and feel sure that your families will be very proud of you.
Playdough Chefs
Measuring and counting are a big part of making playdough and some of the children have been learning to follow instructions to make their own dough. It’s much more fun to play with dough that you have made yourself and the children were keen to follow the recipe and choose their own colour. Here is our little group of chefs busy at their work.
Den Building
Outdoor play provides great opportunities for the children to develop their creativity and skills with lots of problem solving and teamwork at the heart of much of their learning. This snapshot from one morning shows the children working well together to create their own den, triggering lots of imaginative play which extended to the mud kitchen as meals had to be provided for the family living in the new den. No wonder the children go home tired with all this hard work that they do in a day.
