Despite chilly weather, all our children walked to the war memorial today for Remembrance Day. They behaved beautifully and we were very proud of them standing quietly for the little service and the silence. Each room had made two wreaths which were laid at the foot of the war memorial so you may see them if you are on the High Street. Thank you to all our children for making us feel so proud of you.

Congratulations
Very well done to these recent award winners. We are so proud of you both.
Hammers, Nails And Wood
Hammers, nails and wood provide great opportunities for the children to develop their skills in Technologies and they show themselves to be great learners whether indoors or out. You can see from these photos that their focus and attention is impressive as they work safely and confidently with the tools. The children are rightly proud that they are carrying out what they consider an adult task and are developing confidence to consider this as a possible area of work in the future.
Thank You Mr. Irving
The children in the Rainbow Room enjoyed the visit by Mr. Irving, from the fire service, just as much as those in the Raindrop Room and were particularly interested in his equipment. Thank you so much to Mr. Irving for taking the time to visit us to talk about fire safety.
Staying Safe
We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr. Irving from the fire service who came in on Guy Fawkes Day to talk to the children about his job and staying safe near fire. He very kindly brought the fire car along with him and some little uniforms for the children to try out so they certainly had an exciting morning. We were pleased to hear that Mr. Irving was impressed with the children’s knowledge about safety. I wonder if they can tell their families at home about how to stay safe near fire?
Hairdressing
As we had a hairdresser’s salon in our role play area, we thought that it would be a good idea to invite a hairdresser in to talk about her job. Fortunately for us, Layla’s auntie kindly offered to come and show us what a hairdresser does. We found out how she learned to be a hairdresser and that she started out using a doll’s head like we had in our area. Lucky Layla even got a haircut in Nursery so that we could see how she works. Thank you so much to Layla’s auntie for coming in to see us. We think that we may have a few budding hairdressers in our midst after your visit.
Balancing Challenge
An obstacle course always provides a great outdoor challenge and lots of the children love helping to design a course themselves. This little activity provided the opportunity to develop the children’s balancing skills and some even took on the additional challenge of carrying cups of water along the course. What great concentration you can see on their faces as they try to get to the end of the plank without spilling any water.

Congratulations
Huge congratulations go to our award winners from the end of last term. They thoroughly deserved their certificates and we are very proud of them.
Balance Bikes
I wonder if the children have been out on their bikes while they have been on holiday? They were working on their biking skills at the end of term as we borrowed a set of balance bikes and helmets to give them some extra practice in the school playground. We could certainly see great progress in their balance and control so we hope that some have been able to play on their bikes in the holidays.
Snack By The Fire
The weather was kind to us towards the end of last term and both rooms took the opportunity to have a fire and an outdoor snack. The children have quickly learned the safety rules when we have a fire and it’s a great opportunity for them to develop their social skills as they tend to sit and chat a lot round a fire.
