Red Nose Day

Wear your pyjamas and/or crazy hair was the Hecklegirth challenge on Red Nose Day and the Nursery children took part with great enthusiasm. Thank you very much to everyone who made a donation – the Nursery children did so well to raise £51.18 out of a grand school total of £225 which we are sure will help a very worthy cause. We hope you enjoy these happy faces.

Thank You

Thank you so much to those who have kindly donated to our local charity, Kate’s Kitchen. Bars of soap, hot water bottles, gloves, hats and socks would all be gratefully received to distribute in our local community. Final date to donate to this worthy cause is 14th December. Thank you very much for your kind generosity if you have already given donations.

Christmas Donations

Hecklegirth Fundraisers would like to invite our families to support local causes for the upcoming Christmas period. Kate’s Kitchen is in desperate need of
• bars of soap
• hot water bottles, mini or normal
• gloves (adult and child)
• socks (adult and child)
• hats (adult and child)
If you would like to donate, please hand in any of the above to Nursery or school by December 14th.

WaterAid Fundraising

To help the children begin to understand the wider world, we have been talking to them about the importance of water in our lives and they have been learning that, in some parts of the world, access to clean water and toilets is limited. We talked about what water tastes like in our country and some even tried out what it might feel like to carry a bucket of water on their head and they agreed that it would be very difficult.
As part of this work on global citizenship, we have put an empty water container in Nursery for the children to add any spare coins that you may have to make a contribution to the charity WaterAid. The container sits between the two cloakroom areas so that everyone can see it when they come to Nursery. We are delighted that the children have engaged well with these discussions and some have already kindly put coins in our bottle.
WaterAid is an international not-for-profit organisation, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. They work in 38 countries across Africa, Asia, Central America and the Pacific Region to transform lives in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Around 289,000 children die each year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation. That’s nearly 800 children each day, or one child every two minutes. We would like to make a small contribution to make a difference for these children by collecting any spare change you may have.

If you would like to find out more about WaterAid, you can visit www.wateraid.org, follow @WaterAidUK on Twitter or visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wateraid.

We would appreciate your support in our efforts to help the children in this project and any spare coins in our water container will be gratefully received. Thank you to those who have already been kind enough to make a contribution.

Farmer’s Den

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Hecklegirth Fundraisers for paying for all the children to have a session at Farmer’s Den to celebrate our year in Nursery. Not only did the children run, jump and climb with boundless energy but they took some time out to draw or play with the bricks when they needed a little rest. Even Stan the Star made an appearance to join in the fun of what was a busy and very happy day.
Thank you to all those who have contributed to the fundraising activities this year as you helped the Nursery children have a super session at Farmer’s Den. These photos show the morning children having fun. Photos of the afternoon session will be posted soon.

Barbecue

Please remember our barbecue tomorrow night (6 – 8pm) organised by Hecklegirth Fundraisers. There are lots of fun activities for the family and money raised is used to benefit all the children in our school.

It is thanks to this hardworking group that all our Nursery children will have a free outing to Farmer’s Den soon to celebrate the end of our year so we hope that lots of our families will be able to support this event.
