Carmen Loves Outdoor Play

Carmen enjoyed seeing her photo in the den in the Nursery garden. Her Mum left a comment:

“I showed Carmen the picture of her and her friends. She said they were hiding. She laughed and sayed look at Reagyn he’s trying to cuddle me. She loves playing outside she says she has lots of fun”

It’s been great to watch the children grow in confidence to build their dens and develop their imaginative play outdoors.

Family Comments

It’s good to know that our families are enjoying visiting our blog. Teigan was pleased to see her photo with her favourite teddy:

“I love pinky, Ive had her since I was born”.

We loved meeting Pinky too so thanks for bringing her to Nursery Teigan.

Carmen has also been talking to her Mum about our new furniture:

“Carmen told me the nursery got table and chairs and a bed. I asked her what was her favourite she replied the table and chairs. I asked her why? She replied because they have coloured seats and my favourite is the red one.”

We are all very pleased with our new furniture too. We think that the children made a very good decision on how to spend their donation.

Real Life Decision Making

The children have had some big decisions to make recently as we had the wonderful problem of deciding what to buy with a very generous donation from a kind grandparent.
They were given three choices of how to spend the money and, after a discussion about each, all the children voted for their favourite. As you can see from the photos, each child added their vote to the graph and watched carefully to see which option came out the winner. Although it was a close vote, the winning choice was for a bed, table and chairs for the role play area. There was great excitement when the parcels arrived and some of the children did a super job of helping us put our new furniture together. As you can see, they are all delighted with their choice and experienced lots of valuable learning along the way.
Children and staff are extremely grateful for this donation from a very kind and generous grandparent. The children are already having great fun with the additions to our role play area and will continue to do so for many years to come.

“Well done Ava and Sophie for gaining the Star Awards, it’s lovely to hear your child is being polite and showing lovely manners towards others. Keep up the good work girls.

Well done Sophie and Ava for making your families so proud of you. I wonder who will be Star Award winners next week?

Confident Individuals

We hope that everyone has enjoyed their first week in Nursery. We have certainly had a great week getting to know all the new children and are delighted with the way in which they have settled. Two more parents have posted comments:

“Pleased to see the children appear to be settling well!!!!!!”

“Just to say thanks for a fantastic first week at nursery! My child has really enjoyed it and seems to be settling in well!”

Thank you to all our parents for working with us to ensure a smooth and happy start for the children. One of our aims is for the children to become ‘confident individuals’ and many are certainly showing quiet confidence already. We look forward to seeing you all again next week.

Carmen’s First Impressions

Carmen’s family has enjoyed seeing the first photos of her on the blog and has left photo comments:

“Deryn and Carmen look like there having fun x”
“Carmens first few days at nursery have been great. When I picked her up today I said how was your day at nursery today she replied it was very interesting mummy aw!!!”

Thank you for taking the time to post comments. We do appreciate it when our families participate in our blog as we want it to be something for us all to share. We love Carmen’s impression of her first few days in Nursery and hope that she continues to enjoy her experience.

Good Luck From Ollie

We have had two lovely comments from Ollie’s family today:

“The potatoes are in full flow now so if any of the boys and girls are passing please stop in to say hello. X”

If you were one of the children who helped to plant potatoes at Ollie’s allotment last term, his family would be happy for you to go and have a look at them so maybe you could take a walk with your family?

They also left a message for everyone starting school or Nursery tomorrow:

“It’s like Christmas Eve in our house. Everyone, especially ollie is excited about starting primary 1. We would all like to wish all the boys and girls at the nursery a fantastic first day. We agree that you will love it at hecklegirth nursery. Good luck to mrs Carruthers and her team and thank you so so much for all the experiences you gave ollie last year. Love Ollie,Wendy and Stuart. X”

We are looking forward to seeing all the children in Nursery tomorrow. Best wishes also to everyone starting Primary 1. We will be thinking about you all and hope that you have a great first day.

Start of Term

As our summer holidays draw to a close, we hope that the children are beginning to get excited about the start of a new year in Hecklegirth Nursery, whether they are returning or it’s the beginning of their time with us. After a successful pilot scheme last year, we will continue to have two Nursery classes and children have been allocated a place in either the Rainbow Room or the Sunshine Room.
We would like to remind you that the children will attend for one hour only on the first two days, Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th of August. You will find details of your child’s time and room on the letter you received, allocating your child a place. If anyone is unsure of which group and room their child is in, staff will be in school on Friday 16th August and we will be happy to take your call to confirm this.

Blog Visitors

Since our blog started in October 2010, it has grown and provided an opportunity for families to gain an insight into the life of our Nursery. In April 2011 we added a Clustrmaps counter to measure the number of visitors to our site and we are delighted to say that we have now had more than 20 000 visitors in that time. If you click on the small map you can see that we have had visitors from 59 countries. We are particularly delighted to have had 86 visitors from Poland and hope that we are helping some of our children’s families to keep in touch with what’s happening in our Nursery, despite living a distance away.
We really appreciate the comments on our posts as this, hopefully, helps to make it a fun, shared site for everyone. We hope that our new families starting later this month will enjoy this valuable tool and will continue to visit our site in the future.
