Our Hecklegirth Nursery Peep group has been meeting for a few weeks now. We are following the Communication and Language learning together course. So far we have practised our listening skills, followed instructions to make play dough, had ‘puppet conversations’ and taken resources home to make our own puppets. Thank you to Eileen, our Lifelong Learning Co-ordinator, for planning such fun activities.

Kitchen Play
Lily B.’s family likes the photo of her busy in the Chinese restaurant:
“Lily loves playing with kitchens and pretending to cook for everyone.”
This has certainly been a popular place to play recently and we have had some lovely meals made for us.
Drumming Daddy
As well as visitors playing bagpipes, we had a drummer in from a local pipe band to help us learn about Scottish culture. Summer’s Dad told us that he started playing the drums when he was just a little boy and that it takes a lot of practice to become good enough to join a pipe band. He was kind enough to allow the children to try out their skills on his drum which many enjoyed. I wonder if we might have some future pipe band members in our Nursery?

Burns Week Learning
Tilly’s family has been looking at our activities based around Burns Day:
“Tilly had a fantastic Burn’s Week in nursery, she has never stopped talking about it and tasting the ‘Spanish’ food apparently!!! She has been showing us and her nana and papa her highland dancing skills!!”
It’s great to hear that Tilly has been talking about her learning at home. Well done with the dancing Tilly!
PEEP
Our PEEP sessions got underway last week with children and their families making playdough. As you can see, younger siblings had fun joining in too so we look forward to seeing you again later this week. Thank you to Eileen, our Lifelong Learning Co-ordinator, for arranging these sessions for our families.
Outdoors
James’ family enjoyed the photos of the children making their own bus in the garden:
“James just loves buses and being outdoors.”
This little group certainly all had great fun.
PEEP Sessions
As some parents/carers were not available last week, Eileen, our Lifelong learning Co-ordinator, will be starting her PEEP sessions tomorrow, 23rd January, between 9.00 and 10.00. She looks forward to seeing you then. Younger siblings are welcome.
Tom’s Shells
We would like to thank Tom’s family for bringing in lots of beautiful shells for the children to decorate. Many of the children in the Rainbow Room have had great fun designing their shells which we hope to display in the outdoor area. Thank you for your kind gift. We hope that you are pleased with the children’s efforts.
PEEP
We would like to remind you that Eileen, our Lifelong learning Co-ordinator, will be starting her PEEP sessions tomorrow, 16th January, between 9.00 and 10.00. She looks forward to seeing you then. Younger siblings are welcome.
Great Time
James’ family has been looking at our photos of the children settling in to the new term:
“James said he had a great time and he loves playing on the keyboard.”
It’s good to hear that James is settling in happily. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.
