Looking After Our Plants
James and Lily have been visiting our planter on the High Street and their family told us that they have been learning about keeping the flowers alive and what they need to grow.
How kind of you both to water our plants Lily and James. Some of the Nursery staff have been trying to care for them in the hot weather and it’s great to know that we have such super helpers. Thank you so much and thank you for sharing your photos. We love to see you all. Keep up the good work!
Tadpole Update
I wonder if you remember the tadpoles that Isaac was looking after? Well we have exciting news – the tadpoles have grown and their legs are now forming. What a brilliant job you must have been doing Isaac in caring for them. It is great to see their progress.
Always busy, Isaac has also completed a 48 piece jigsaw puzzle unaided and has been playing a board game with his family called “Pop To The Shops” where he has been counting and learning about money. What a lot of super skills you have been practising there Isaac!
Thank you so much for sharing your photos. We have been wondering how those tadpoles were progressing. Well done for all your hard work.
Sports Day At Home
I wonder how many of have had your Sports Day at home? We are delighted to share this super video of one of our pupils enjoying an obstacle course at home with her big sister. It looks like great fun and the course was even created by the girls themselves. Super work both of you and thank you so much for sharing your video.
Make Some Noise
Why not have fun making some noise? You can make our own musical instrument using elastic bands and some junk boxes. If possible, find different sizes and thicknesses of elastic bands which can then be put around a box. You can cut a sound hole in your box under the elastic band, a bit like a tissue box. Better still if you have an old tissue box and the hole is already made for you.
Some things to try out-
• Can you make the sound louder/quieter?
• What happens when you use a smaller/thinner elastic band?
• Can you feel and see the band vibrating?
• What happens if you touch the band when it is vibrating?
If you don’t have elastic bands at your house, why not try using empty, dry juice bottles or a crisp cardboard tube to make an instrument? Add rice, lentils or pebbles from outdoors, put the lid on (don’t forget this bit!) and you have a shaker ready to play along with any music you enjoy.
If you have been joining in the Thursday night clapping, you may already have created your own drum kit using pots, pans, lids and wooden spoons. Try a metal spoon or a plastic ladle to see what sort of noise that makes.
We will be keeping our ears peeled for some great bands in Annan over the next few days.
