Parent Comments

Two of our families have left recent comments on our photos. Sophie S’s Mum enjoyed our Family Breakfast event:

“sophie and neve her little sister had a fantastic time at the nursery breakfast neve enjoyed it so much she didn’t want to leave.”

It was lovely that some little brothers and sisters were able to join us and we’re glad that you all had a good time.

Julia’s Mum has been looking back at some of the photos with the Primary 6 buddies:

“What a lovely picture of Julia reading with one of the Primary 6’s. She often talks about the “Big girls” coming to Nursery and is already wondering who her buddy will be!”

Primary 6 children are doing a great job and are building good relationships with the Nursery children so thank you very much to them for some super work.

Family Breakfast With The Rainbow Room

As promised, we have a selection of photos from the Family Breakfast event with the children and their families from the Rainbow Room. Judging by the evaluation slips you were kind enough to complete, everyone enjoyed this opportunity and some commented that their children had tried different foods for the first time which is great to hear. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us over the two days and thank you to Eileen for organising another lovely family event.

Sunshine Breakfasts

Our Family Breakfast event last week was very well attended on both days. This was a new venture organised with Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, as a celebration of our learning about Scotland and it seemed to be a popular addition to our family activities.
Thank you to all the adults who joined in the spirit of the occasion by singing along with the children and encouraging them to try the breakfast on offer. Cereal, various fruits, tattie scones and oatcakes provided a range of foods and most children enjoyed a good breakfast. We were delighted that some were encouraged to taste something they had not had before and found out that they actually liked it.
We hope that some of you have tried the recipes on the back of our menus with the children at home and look forward to hearing about it from them in Nursery.
Here are some photos of the Sunshine families having breakfast on Thursday. We will post the Rainbow Room photos soon.

Terrific Tattie Scones

tattieAfter our recent Family Breakfast event, you were invited to take home the breakfast menus which included recipes for tattie scones and oatcakes. Mollie and her Mum followed the tattie scone recipe to make some heart shaped scones in preparation for Valentine’s Day and have sent us a photo of their finished product. What a good job you’ve done – your scones look too good to eat. If anyone else has photos to share with us, we would love to see them.
Photos of our Family Breakfast will be posted here soon.

Family Breakfast

We would like to remind you that the Family Breakfast event will be held tomorrow, 5th February, for the children and their families from the Sunshine Room. If you returned the slip to say that you plan to attend, this will be in the school dinner hall at 9.00 for morning children and 2.30 for those in the afternoon. Rainbow Room children and their families will take part on Friday, 6th February, at the same times. We look forward to seeing you all then.

Christmas Comments

Emma’s Mum has been enjoying our photos of the party:

“Emma loved meeting Santa. Thank you to everyone involved. xx”

“Fun and games. Looks like everyone is having fun. Emma said she’d had great fun.”

Emma and her Mum enjoyed Eileen’s Family Learning Christmas activities too:

“We had a great time making the Christmas Card, Tree decoration and most of all our Rudolph sandwich. He was lucky to make it home in one piece as it was blowing a gale when we left!! Thank you Eileen your ideas are great.”

Those reindeer sandwiches have been very popular – I wonder if anyone will make one to leave for Santa on Christmas Eve?

Reindeer Sandwiches

Thanks must go again to Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, for providing super Christmas activities for children and their families to enjoy together. There were reindeer sandwiches, Christmas cards and decorations on the go in the Family Room and they all looked like good fun. It’s lovely to see so many families participating, despite everyone being so busy at this time of year, and we really appreciate Eileen offering so many sessions. Even Steve the Star from the Sunshine Room made an appearance and seemed to be very interested in everything. We are already discussing the next Family Learning activity so watch this space early next term.

Festive Families

We would like to remind you that Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has arranged activity sessions to get you in the festive mood by making Christmas decorations. In the past lots of parents and children have enjoyed doing this together and we are grateful to Eileen for providing the opportunity again this year.
You can join in the fun with glitter and glue on Friday 5th December, Monday 8th December or Tuesday 9th December. There are still some spaces left – just add your name to the list on the Family Learning notice board in the corridor.
