Take One Pumpkin …

It wouldn’t be Hallowe’en without investigating a pumpkin and the children in the Sunshine Room had a busy time today emptying all the flesh and seeds from their pumpkin. They had a great experience investigating what they found inside and then spent lots of time decorating their final lantern. Well done boys and girls! We love your decorated pumpkin lantern.

Thank You

Thank you to all the family and friends who were able to watch the children’s performance today of the Autumn songs that they had been learning. We really appreciate your support in providing a wonderful audience for the children and we hope that you enjoyed their performance as much as they seemed to.
One of our aims is to develop ‘confident individuals’ and many of our children showed themselves to be exactly that in performing in front of a large audience. Well done boys and girls! We think that your families were as proud of you as we were. Here are the children excited and ready to perform earlier today.

Happy Families

Two of our families have left lovely comments about the children’s performance today. Jasmin’s family said,
“They were all fantastic, well done!”

Brooke’s family enjoyed the performance too:
“Thank you very much for inviting us to watch the children sing, was lovely to come and listen to and watch Brooke do what she loves the best and sing her wee heart and perform. All the children done really well today, they were so confident in standing up in front of a big crowd to sing.”

Thank you for leaving such kind comments. We really appreciate it. We will shortly post a couple of photos of the children ready to perform.

Songs For Our families

We would like to remind you that, as we come towards the end of our learning about Autumn, you can come a little early to collect the children tomorrow, Wednesday 11th October, to hear them singing a few songs that they have been practising.
Please use the Nursery entrance to arrive for 11.40 or 2.45, depending on the session your child attends, if you wish to hear the children singing.

Hecklegirth Clinic

Life at Hecklegirth Clinic has been hectic over the last few weeks as dolls and children alike have been examined and cured of so many broken limbs, coughs, sore tummies and every other ailment you can imagine. As you can see, there has been a large staff of willing doctors and nurses to help out at our clinic, writing down prescriptions and notes then administering the correct medicine or applying a bandage to cure their poor patients. We think that we might have some budding medical staff of the future here in Hecklegirth Nursery and hope that you enjoy the photos of the children at work.

Shimmering Shells

After hearing about the children decorating pebbles for our outdoor area, Leah’s Granny kindly gave us a box of shells to add to our display. As you can see, the children were enthusiastic to sponge various patterns on to their shells which they finished off with a dash of glitter. Thank you to Leah’s Granny for providing us with a fun activity which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Look out for our new shells in the garden any day soon.

Shape Art

As part of our work for Maths Week, the children focussed their learning on shape and have experimented with printing using shapes in the art area. As you can see they have produced some bright, attractive pieces of artwork at the same time as developing their learning about maths.

Bug Hotel Pebbles

The pebbles that the children decorated so beautifully for our bug hotel area of the garden have now been put outdoors and we think that they look super. The children looked carefully at the area and decided for themselves where they thought the pebbles would look best. We think those bugs are very lucky to get such a beautifully decorated garden to play in. It would be lovely if you could take time to have a look at them with the children on your way home as they are rightly proud of their hard work.

Pebbles, Paint and Glitter

To make the area round the new bug hotel look more attractive, the children have been decorating pebbles to display in the soil. Everyone was enthusiastic to take part and the children used a wide range of colours and glitter to produce their own designs. Once the varnish has dried, we plan to put their beautiful pebbles out in the garden so you can ask the children to show you them on the way home from Nursery.
