Christmas Celebration

We hope that you are all looking forward to our Christmas celebration tomorrow, Monday 18th December. Morning parents can join us at 11.20 and afternoon parents at 2.20. The Nursery door will be opened for entry through the usual entrance and parents and family can park in the John Bell car park.
We are keeping our Christmas celebration informal to encourage the children to enjoy a relaxed and happy performance of the songs they have been learning. Mr. Bill Malone, from the Old Parish Church, has kindly agreed to join us and we are delighted that many of our families have indicated that they would like to be part of our celebration. As you can see, the children have been practising to make sure that you enjoy their songs. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Letter Tree

The beautiful decorations on our star tree have already been shared with you but, as you may have noticed, we also have a “Letter Tree” where each child used a range of craft materials to decorate the initial letter of their name. We absolutely love these creations and hope that they will be decorations that will hang on the children’s trees at home for years to come. I wonder if the children can spot their own work?

Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star

To add variety to our “Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star” tree the children experimented with a range of materials to see what they could create using lollipop sticks as a base. As you can see from these examples, they showed originality and creativity to produce wonderful additions to the stars on our tree. Why not have a close look at our trees to see exactly what great work the children have done?

Glitter and Sparkles

As you may have noticed, the festive season has arrived early in Nursery as the children have become immersed in glitter and sparkles to create decorations for our Christmas trees. Thank you to all those who brought us egg boxes over the past week or so as they have now been transformed into sparkling tree decorations. Here is a little gallery of our first Christmas activities.

Hecklegirth Hairdressers

I wonder if anyone is in need of a new hairstyle in preparation for the festive season? We have a great team of hairdressers who are very busy in Nursery if you would like to stay to play and experience a new style created by them. As you can see, they have been on the phone booking in appointments and trying out a range of equipment as part of their role play. I wonder if we have any hairdressers of the future here?

Kandinsky Artists

We have been learning about the work of the artist Kandinsky in Nursery. A range of media has been used to create artwork in his style and the children have been amazed and delighted to be able to produce a piece of art that looks similar to that of a famous artist. We hope that enjoy our little Kandinsky gallery. I wonder if the children can find their own work?

Firework Art

Leading on from our discussions about Bonfire Night and then Diwali, the children have had the opportunity, in the art and craft area, to contribute to a display featuring fireworks which are central to both celebrations. No doubt it won’t be the first time this term that we have glitter everywhere but we think that the children have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with various sparkles and stars to create their colourful display.
