Our Primary 6 buddies continued their super work in the Nursery in the last week of term, enjoying an art activity with our children. Marshmallows, toothbrushes and glitter were the tools used to decorate their bunnies and the older pupils chatted to our children as they made their choices about colour and design. This gallery shows the morning children all busy at work. We will post some photos of the afternoon children working with Primary 6 soon.

Well Done Bethany
Thank you to everyone who entered the decorated egg competition this week. Here is the happy winner of the Nursery and Primary 1 section. Well done Bethany! There were a lot of eggs in the competition so you did very well to be chosen as the winner and we hope that you enjoy your prize. Congratulations to all the entrants who produced some super decorated eggs.
Eggcellent Eggs
What a lot of fantastic eggs appeared from our Nursery children this week for the decorated boiled egg competition! It was great to see that children and their families have worked together at home on this fun Easter activity and the Nursery/Primary 1 tables are full of lots of creative ideas. Well done to everyone who took the time to enter the competition. We are not sure yet who the winner is but we think that all your eggs are wonderful!
Our Community
Learning about our community and the jobs that people do has provided inspiration for some of the children’s drawings and paintings over the past week as they talked about the buildings and vehicles as well as people. Watch out also in Nursery for the street that the children have created in the craft area. Here is a small selection of the drawings and paintings that they have produced. Fantastic Dragon
Jasmin’s family likes our recent photos of the Chinese dragon:
“What a great idea, the dragon looks fantastic! X”
Thank you for your kind comment. We think that the children made a great job of their dragons and they certainly enjoyed doing their dance round the school.
Happy New Year
As tomorrow is Chinese New Year, both the morning and the afternoon children performed a dragon dance along the school corridor to visit a few of the classrooms. As you can see, we took both our dragons along and got a great reception from lots of people along the way. It was lovely to visit different rooms, including Primary 1, where some of the children will be pupils next year, and Primary 5/6 where it was great to see the Primary 6 buddies who usually come to visit us.
Thank you to all the staff and pupils who made us feel so welcome with our dragon dancing and well done to Nursery boys and girls for showing great confidence in the wider school environment. Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Careful Work
As we are learning about Chinese New Year, the children have been developing their fine motor skills in the art area by using fine brushes to attempt painting Chinese words and numerals. As you can see, they have been careful in their work and lots of children have been keen to try out this activity. Click then click again on the photos for a clearer view and to see the name of the artist.
Chinese Dragon Dance
Dancing Dragon
The morning children made their own decisions when planning their Chinese dragon as part of our learning about Chinese New Year and, as you can see, their dragon is quite different from the one made by the afternoon children although glitter was still very popular as part of the decoration.
All we need to do now is practise dancing with our dragon so that we look just like the real Chinese dragons that we have watched on the computer.
Chinese Dragon
As our learning moves on to the celebrations of Chinese New Year, the children decided that they would like to make their own dragon after watching a clip on the internet of Chinese dragon dances. We provided them with a selection of materials and the children thought about how we could make a dragon and what they wanted it to look like.
Here are the afternoon children very busy last week with their discussions and dragon making.
