Welcome To The Theatre

The children in the Raindrop Room have recently discovered the puppets and the puppet theatre. It just took one little confident performer to take to the stage and quickly seats were gathered for an audience and the children were taking turns to perform in their little theatre. It’s great to see that the children’s confidence is growing to sing or say a rhyme in front of an audience. We love these impromptu performances.

Raindrop Gallery

The children in the Raindrop Room have been busy painting, drawing and writing in their first few days in Nursery. Lots of children now have work displayed on the wall so it would be great if you could find the time to have a look. Here is a small selection of their work but there is lots more to see in Nursery.

First Art

Art activities are very popular in Nursery and lots of children have been experimenting in that area in their first week with us. Many pictures have gone home so no doubt they will be decorating your fridges and walls. Look out for the children’s work on display in Nursery and we would like to share this little gallery of the first works of art in the Rainbow Room. If you click then click again on a photo you will get a clearer view and should be able to see the artist’s name. I wonder if any of the children can find their own work?

Caterpillar Creations

It required concentration and good fine motor control but the children in the Rainbow Room showed great perseverance to make these little caterpillars. The children were so proud of their work that we decided to use them as part of our display on graduation day and you can see a little group making a “grass” stand for them. We think that these caterpillars helped to make a lovely setting for our special day.

Outdoor Music

Everything always seems such fun to the children when it’s outdoors and they certainly enjoyed making musical instruments in the garden towards the end of term. As some started to see others performing in a little band, they too wanted to make their own instruments and before long we had music ringing out all over the outdoor area. Here are a few of the children busy at work.

Symmetry In Art

As we looked after our little caterpillars we talked about what they might look like when they became butterflies and took the opportunity to develop the children’s understanding of symmetry. Lots of children enjoyed creating their own symmetrical pictures in the art area and produced some beautiful butterflies which are all different. Can you spot your butterfly here?

Great Glasses

Sometimes in Nursery an idea can start from one child then others take it on board and join in. Here a group of children decided that they wanted glasses as part of their play so they got busy in the drawing area and, with a little guidance, they made their glasses then spent the rest of the session making good use of them in their play. We think that they look great.
