Whatever the weather, lots of our children always enjoy being outdoors and adapt their play to the environment they find. Recent heavy rain and big puddles provided the opportunity for some great teamwork and problem solving as the children worked together to build bridges. There was some super discussion about possible solutions to crossing the water and it was wonderful to hear the children listening to each other and following through their plans to make a path across the huge puddle. I wonder if we have some engineers of the future here?

Caring For Our Environment
Come wind, rain or shine we have to care for our garden and these helpful little gardeners did a great job recently weeding our plant box. They showed good listening skills to carry out instructions and, as well as pulling all the weeds out, they tidied everything into the bin afterwards, leaving us with a weed free and tidy box. What super “responsible citizens” and “effective contributors” they are which are two of the aspirations we have for all children in Scotland
Thank You
Thank you so much to those who have kindly donated to our local charity, Kate’s Kitchen. Bars of soap, hot water bottles, gloves, hats and socks would all be gratefully received to distribute in our local community. Final date to donate to this worthy cause is 14th December. Thank you very much for your kind generosity if you have already given donations.
Christmas Decorating
Evelyn’s family enjoyed the photos of the children decorating our Christmas tree:
“Aww. Evelyn loves decorating for Christmas. Done a lovely job at  home. xx “
It’s great to hear that you are helping out at home Evelyn.
Christmas Is Here
Christmas arrived on Friday afternoon in Nursery when the Christmas tree appeared and the children worked together to decorate it. Well done boys and girls – we think that you did a super job.
Ten Station Fitness Challenge
To celebrate Hecklegirth’s achievement, the school will be presented with a Gold Sports Award by a representative of Sport Scotland tomorrow, Monday 3rd December. The whole school will then be having an afternoon of fun sports activities to celebrate our achievement.
As part of this, afternoon Nursery children will take part in a Ten Station Fitness Challenge in the playground with Primary 1. We would ask that children come with warm clothes and coats as we will all be going outdoors to take part. Let’s hope that the rain stays away to help us have a fun time with Primary 1.
Christmas Donations
Hecklegirth Fundraisers would like to invite our families to support local causes for the upcoming Christmas period. Kate’s Kitchen is in desperate need of
• bars of soap
• hot water bottles, mini or normal
• gloves (adult and child)
• socks (adult and child)
• hats (adult and child)
If you would like to donate, please hand in any of the above to Nursery or school by December 14th.
Children In Need
Thank you to all those who participated in our “Non-Uniform Day” for Children in Need and thank you to those who kindly gave a donation to this worthy cause. Here is a selection of photos from our day.

Making Ghosts
With all the wonderful outfits arriving in Nursery for Hallowe’en we thought that we should have a special snack so some of the children got busy, icing biscuits to turn them into tasty ghosts. They certainly seemed to go down a treat with everyone so well done those busy little bakers in the kitchen.
