It never ceases to amaze us how inventive our children can be in their play. This little group decided to use the planks from the balancing activity to turn them into a slide. They carefully positioned and repositioned the planks until they found the right position and angle to make it work and here is the end result – a great little slide. Good teamwork boys and girls!

Decorate An Egg
We hope that lots of our children will take part in this week’s competition to decorate a hard boiled egg. Entries can be brought in to Nursery on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd April to add to the whole school display. There will be prizes for the best egg in various groups and ours will be in the Nursery and Primary 1 section. Adults have their own section so the grown ups in your family can have a go too. Have fun decorating your eggs everyone – we look forward to seeing them soon.
Collaborative Art
As well as individual works of art, the children love to create a collaborative piece of art now and again. We provide the tools and the children work together to produce one big collage or picture. Paint, pens, glitter and collage materials were all available to the children as they worked together to produce their unique creation. It’s lovely to hear them talking together about their picture as they work and the whole creative process seems to have a very calming effect on those joining in. Well done all those who contributed to these creations. One is on display in the school corridor and one in Nursery.
Happy Faces
Oscar and Letti’s family has been looking at the photos from Red Nose Day:
“What a great photo, happy faces all round!”
The children certainly had great fun coming to Nursery in their pyjamas and it was great that we could donate to such a good cause.
Mud Painting And Creativity
We would like to share this little gallery of outdoor play in the Rainbow Room one recent morning. Painting with mud was very popular with some, as the children created artwork using the resources available to them.
Another group decided to make their own hotel using cones, pipes, cable reels and other bits and pieces they found outdoors. In case you are wondering, the watering can on the top of their hotel is the sprinkler to put out fires in the hotel. What a great idea! As always, our children prove themselves to be so creative in their use of resources.

Flower Arranging
It is always important to have a nice environment to enjoy a meal and these children in the Rainbow Room certainly helped to make the snack area more attractive recently when they created some little floral displays for the snack tables. It was great to hear their discussion about which flowers they liked and which to put together in their vases. We think that their flower arranging skills are great and they made everyone’s visit to snack and lunch a much more pleasant experience.
Red Nose Day
Wear your pyjamas and/or crazy hair was the Hecklegirth challenge on Red Nose Day and the Nursery children took part with great enthusiasm. Thank you very much to everyone who made a donation – the Nursery children did so well to raise £51.18 out of a grand school total of £225 which we are sure will help a very worthy cause. We hope you enjoy these happy faces.
Red Nose Day
We would like to remind you that tomorrow, March 15th, is Red Nose Day and children can wear their pyjamas and/or crazy hair to raise money for Comic Relief.
Imagination And Creativity
Children’s imagination and creativity never cease to amaze us. These photos captured the play of a little group who decided to make their own fire engine immediately after our recent fire practice. They used materials in the garden to create their own engine complete with wheels and hoses then spent ages playing imaginatively in it. Great work children!
Buddy Day
Wednesday is buddy day when Primary 6 visit Nursery children to play with them. The buddies are getting to know our children and are doing a great job. It’s lovely to see the older and younger children chatting together as they begin to build relationships. We are looking forward to lots more visits in the future and hope that Primary 6 are enjoying their visits too.
