It seems that the children in the Rainbow Room think fairies may have been visiting our garden so they decided to make homes for them. As you can see, the art area and outdoors were very busy as the children discussed their designs and created some wonderful fairy houses, using paint and glitter.
Fences and stepping stones required some careful work but they showed good fine motor control to create these little additions to the scene. Once the children had set out all their work, including the shells that had been painted recently, it looked like a very welcoming place for local fairies to live. We hope that they are impressed with their new homes.

Love Hearts
As a group of our children had been invited on a return visit to Lydiafield for Valentine’s Day, we decided to make a little keepsake for the residents to remember our visit. Sparkles, tissue, glitter and pompoms were very popular as they decorated little hearts to give to the elderly residents. Another group worked hard to produce more than 50 shortbread love hearts, again to be given individually as a little Valentine’s gift. Well done boys and girls for being kind and responsible citizens.
Independent Learners
Our Burns celebrations last week were a great success and this little group did a super job of helping with the preparations as they made shortbread for our Scottish snack. The children showed good counting and measuring skills as they prepared the ingredients and were involved in lots of discussion about what was happening as they were mixed and then put in the oven. Super work from these independent little learners!
Visit From Shelter
What an enjoyable visit we had today from Julie and Kerry-Anne from Shelter where they shared information about how they help local families who are experiencing difficulties around homelessness. Our children showed themselves to be responsible citizens and were able to identify how we can help families in need by donating items such as non-perishable foods, toiletries, books and toys. Should you wish to support Shelter you can pop your gifts in the box at Nursery.
Lydiafield Visit
After our Christmas singing visit to Lydiafield, we were delighted to be invited for a return visit to chat to the ladies and gentlemen who live there. This little group of children made us feel very proud as they chatted and played games with some of the residents. It was lovely to see smiles all round from young and old. Thank you to the staff and residents of Lydiafield for making us feel so welcome. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Engineers Of The Future
What great imagination and creativity this little group showed outdoors when they worked together to make a bus. Good use was made of the resources they could find and they shared their ideas to produce a super bus which was then part of their imaginative play. As you can see, they had some great adventures in their bus including a poor pedestrian being knocked over and the police having to come along to investigate the accident. Great work from these little engineers of the future!

Christmas Wreath
Some of the children worked together towards the end of term to create a Christmas wreath. They did a great job of choosing their materials and discussing where to position them, producing an end product that they all designed and felt proud of.
Architects And Builders
A snowy village was the plan for these young engineers when they talked about what they wanted in the big play tray. As they decided that we did not really having anything that they considered a village, this group of children set about making their own, using a range of materials from the junk modelling box. Once they started, lots of children joined in and many contributed to making the buildings and scenery. With a few animals and people added (including Santa), the children had created their own play environment and it has proved to be very popular. I wonder if we have some engineers, architects or builders of the future here in our Nursery?
Friendship Club Visit
This week we were very lucky to be invited back for a visit by the ladies and gentlemen of the Friendship Club in the Old Parish Church hall. As we had thoroughly enjoyed our previous visit, we were keen to make a return trip to entertain everyone with a selection of our Christmas songs. This group of children showed great confidence in an unfamiliar situation and did a super job of providing entertainment to those enjoying a Christmas lunch. It was wonderful to see young and old chatting together and we hope that those at the Friendship Club enjoyed their little visitors. The children were also very interested in the nativity scene outside the church so we spent a little time there talking about it. Thank you to everyone at the Friendship Club for your warm welcome and of course for the delicious snack. We hope to see you again in the future.

Christmas Cutting
The children have been so busy in the art and craft areas lately that we now have super decorations everywhere. Have you noticed the recent addition of a Christmas tree in the corridor? Great cutting skills are evident from the girls and boys from the Raindrop Room on this piece of work. I wonder if they can find their own bauble?
