Christmas Celebration
We hope that you are all looking forward to our Christmas celebration today, Tuesday 18th December. Children should attend Nursery at normal times and we will walk them to church. Families should then come to the United Reform Church for 11.00 or 2.00, depending on which session your child attends.
We are delighted that many of our families have indicated that they would like to be part of our celebration. We want this to be an informal occasion for the children to enjoy a relaxed and happy performance to their families and look forward to seeing you there.
Party Day
We would like to remind you that tomorrow, 11th December, will be party day for the morning and afternoon children. We look forward to seeing the children in their party clothes and you are welcome to join us at 11.00 or 2.00 to see Santa if you would like. Entrance will be by the Nursery door as normal.
Menu Options
We would like to remind you that the menu option sheet to select your child’s meals for next term must be returned by Wednesday 12th December at the latest as the kitchen places food orders in advance to ensure that the appropriate ingredients are delivered. Without an order form, the kitchen will unfortunately not be able to ensure that your child’s choice of meal will be available.
Please complete and return the menu sheet with your child’s choices by 12th December. Thank you for your co-operation to ensure a smooth start to the new lunch provision.
Children In Need
We would like to remind you that, to raise funds for Children In Need, Hecklegirth Primary and Nursery are holding a non-uniform day on Friday 16th November. You can donate £1 to come dressed in something spotty or yellow or even just to wear your own clothes. We hope to raise a valuable contribution to this important charity.
Hallowe’en Disco
We would like to remind you about our Hallowe’en disco tomorrow 30th October. Nursery children can attend from 6.00 until 7.00 and should have an adult stay with them. Hecklegirth Fundraisers use money raised to support events and buy resources to support all children in our school and Nursery so we hope that they got lots of families joining in this event.
Please remember that the children may dress up for Nursery on Wednesday for Hallowe’en if they wish but this is optional.
New Term
We hope that you have had a lovely holiday with your families and look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, Monday 29th October, for the start of the new term. Morning children have a soft start, as usual, between 8.45 and 9.10 and afternoon children start at 12.15.
Come And Join Us
Staff from Enterprising DG will meet you tomorrow, Wednesday 10th October, to talk about the new menus being rolled out for our children next term. These will be of interest as, from January, the children will be entitled to a free lunch as part of the early access to 1140 hours. The menu is compliant with the “Setting The Table” document and both HMIe and Care Inspectorate recommendations.
A tasting session will follow a short presentation on the menus and nutritional advice. We will conclude the session with the children singing for you so there will be lots to enjoy. Nursery entrance will be open for an 11.15 and 2.15 start. We look forward to seeing you there. Here are some of the afternoon children having a little practice of their songs today.
Rhyme And Storytime
We would like to remind you that, following on from the posters and leaflets that we developed with parents last year, we will hold a taster session of “Rhyme and Storytime” tomorrow, Tuesday 18th September at 9.00 and 12.15. This will be led by Eileen Johnstone, our Family Learning Co-ordinator and we look forward to seeing you there.
Our posters are displayed in the Nursery so we hope that you can take the time to have a look at them as these key five messages are central to developing your child’s literacy.
Start Of Term
We are looking forward to seeing everyone when Nursery starts on Tuesday 21st August. It will be lovely to see the children who are returning for their second year and to get to know all our new children and their families.
We would like to remind you that morning sessions have a soft start (8.45-9.10) and children finish at 11.55 unless staying for a full day session. Afternoon children all start at 12.15 and should be collected between 3.00 and 3.25. Children attending for a full day finish at 3.05.
Entrance will be through the Nursery garden and in through the first door on the left for the green and yellow groups, the second door on the left for red and blue groups.
If this is your child’s first time in Nursery, we suggest he/she comes initially for one hour to help him/her to settle in. Please see the letter confirming your child’s place in Nursery for details of groups and times.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
